      Sharks and Sunburn

      April 20, 2019 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

We had slow start but then an awesome action packed day! For breakfast, I really wanted to try this “Blue Door Cafe” so I convinced the boys we do this. I appreciate it’s Saturday of Easter weekend and they were busy, but C’s pancakes took 1 hour to come to the table, and M and my breakfast 45 minutes. And then, it wasn’t even that great. We all were hangry and then just annoyed. After breakfast, we rented bikes and biked 2 KMs down the harbour then out past Nobby’s lighthouse and all the way down the Breakwall. We had a quick view of Nobby’s beach and biked back down the harbour side to our hotel. Then we got in the car and drove to Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters. Here we got in the water with Stingrays, Rays, and Sharks. We even got to feed them. They were pretty curious and loved sitting on our feet. At the end, we watched nurse sharks feed and got to give them a pat. We learned that they only travel 40 meters the whole day and they are known as the laziest species of shark. We all had a fabulous experience! For dinner, we went to Honeysuckle Hotel, had some pub food, danced a little and left at 9 as that is when minors have to leave. On the short walk home, we stopped at Cold Rock Ice Creamery, basically the same thing as Coldstone for my American readers. Yummy.Read more
