The valleys into Innsbruck

Crossing the border into Austria didn’t seem real after travelling the last 200 kms. The views of the valleys and ice capped mountains just didn’t stop.

Made our way to our accommodation in Lans just outside Innsbruck before heading to dinner. We ate at Issewirt "Zur Traube" in Lans. A beautiful, classic Austrian hotel with beautiful, classic views of the Nordkette.

The wooden ceilings, the smell of the kitchen and classic table service, a classic schnitzel, grilled bass, pilsner and wine along with dessert just capped the day off perfectly.Read more

Lans to Innsbruck and fields in between

A beautiful start to the day. The rain had stopped and the sun was beaming over the mountains leaving this fresh and shiny feel.

We walked into Lans to catch our bus into town. The beautiful green field of corn and cannabis greeted us as we stroll into our little village.

The view into town just hits like a massive painting. Our first stop was Cathédrale Saint Jacques constructed in 1717. Beautiful marble and painted frescos made this a feast for the eyes as you walked the marbled floors in silence.Read more

Last night wonders

Last night views on the river to dinner in Lans. Was such a beautiful way to see the day soaking in the view that looks like an ever changing painting as the world wandered by.

Headed home and strolled back still seeing that painting before a classic Austrian meal of fresh water trout and local venison washed down with some great local vino.

Innsbruck certainly turned it on today with the sunshine and views that lasted forever.Read more
