    A Peek at The Pilbara!

    July 1, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Hi there from Tom Price, deep inside the Pilbara region of WA. We had the best time in the Kimmberleys, there is so much to see & do from the coast to the ranges. Such a huge area of natural beauty which you never tire of seeing.

On leaving Broome Thurs week ago we headed down the Great Northern Hwy staying @ Cape Keraudren on the southern end of 80 mile to watch the Stairway To The Moon event, quite spectacular then onto a cattle station, Pardoo Station which also fronts the beach. Lovely stop, quite relaxing. Tried my had at fishing but no luck.

From here we travelled onto Port Hedland just for a night. What an interesting place it is. An industrial Melba, full of red dirt, 4WD 's & yellow & orange work gear everywhere. I would describe it as Kooragang Is on steroids for those who know Newcastle.
Giant ships, railroads, conveyor belts, ore loaders, trucks & the lights at night were something else. Plenty of jobs on offer I am led to believe.
We headed on our way out to Tom Price but were held up by a terrible truck accident that closed the hwy for nearly 24 hours. The roadtrains are relentless, most 4 trailers long Then there is the 2,8 Klm trains all carrying iron ore to the Port. It is full on.

We are all well, travelling fine & keeping up to date on what is happening back east & over here.
Stay safe & well & we will give you an update after our visit to Karijini NP over the next few days, quite looking forward to it as everyone we have ran into rate it so highly.
