      Boat trip

      February 24, 2023 in Brazil ⋅ 🌬 27 °C

For the last day in Arrial and basically of the holiday we decide to go for a boat trip with music around the main beaches of Arraial.
The morning is spent looking for a good provider and a small hike to Janela do Paraiso, where we get a stunning view of Praia Grande and get the girls a proper fotoshooting for the sake of my patience 🤪🙏

At noon a little van bring us to the Marina for the embarque, there we buy some souvenirs and have a quick snack.

The afternoon passes in the boat passes by very quickly... without realising is 5pm and time to be back.
Dinner with a so so service and a messed up bill 🤪 and a stroll in the centre, lead us towards the end of the day.
Batteries are down quickly after such a long and nice day, not even some music in the close bars keep me going for today 😆🤣

      Praia do Forno

      February 22, 2023 in Brazil ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

First day in Arraial is the classic beach day. In the morning I remind myself that sports has been (only) slightly neglected 😆💁‍♂️ during my time in Brazil so far. Hence a morning run 🏃‍♂️ with Mariana along the shore of Praia grande at 7am 💪🏼... 35 minutes and a quick work out is always the best way to start the day!

At 9 we leave for Praia do Forno to spend the day and relax 😌. A small hike to reach and leave this little paradise and a swim along the shore of the beach complete the work out day and allow me to have a well deserved beach nap 😆😴.

On the way back pit stop at home to grab some beers, refresh and watch the sunset, sky slightly clouded gift us with a beautiful combination of pink orange shades 😎. The good company of friends and good talk make this moment even more magic 🌅💫.

      Arraial do Cabo

      September 7, 2023 in Brazil ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Brasiliens Independent Day am 07.

Arraial do Cabo - day 1

      January 11, 2023 in Brazil ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

After very very long transfer we arrived in Arraial do Cabo. The distances in Brazil is something different then what we are used to from Europe… the distance from Chapada Diamantina to Arraial do Cabo is more then 1500 km and due to the lack of transportation options / infrastructure we had to take 2 buses and 1 flight. We are very excited to wash our clothes tomorrow and see one of the best beaches in Brazil 😍🇧🇷Read more

Arraial do Cabo - day 2

      January 12, 2023 in Brazil ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

After breakfast we headed to the beach. On the way we wanted to drop our clothes to the laundry and pick it up later. Unfortunately laundry was so full that our clothes would be done in 3 days when we are already in Rio. As Flo has no clean clothes anymore we had to go to self service laundry and do it by ourselves. After 2 hours we were finally done but hike to near beach would be too much. We decided instead to do the quad bike tour and drive to some remote beaches. Flo really loved it and I was really scared 😂 we drove to the few remote beaches, viewpoints, lake and drive though the jungle. The tour ended nearby the Praia Grande (big beach, famous for sunset views) so we decided to spend the rest of our day there and enjoy the afternoon 😍 the day didn’t go exactly as planned but we really enjoyed it 🤩Read more

Arraial do Cabo - day 3

      January 13, 2023 in Brazil ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

Today we planned to visit one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil - Praia do Pontal do Atalaia. There are two ways to reach the beach by taxi or by boat taxi. We decided to order Uber after we bought drinks and food for a day. First two Uber rides got canceled and second drove us for two minutes and then we had to get out. Apparently only official taxis are allowed to enter the road and there is a fix price 15 reais per person for ride. The advantage of taking the Uber is that the money gets deducted automatically from your bank account, official taxi is paid by cash. We run out of cash again and no ATM for foreigners is available here. 😅 so what can we do now?! We were negotiating with taxi drivers and with my bad Portuguese we could at the end pay in the shop nearby and she gave the taxi driver cash. Extra charge for the service 5 reais. The bumping ride with 8 other passengers in the taxi was okay and we were shocked by amount of people going to this famous beach. The beach was really nice don’t get me wrong but the amount of people, boat tours stopping for swimming and big waves didn’t make our stay that pleasant … also sun beds and umbrellas for almost 30€ 😅 am I in Saint Tropez or Santorini?! We decided to enjoy our day anyway and spoiled us with Açaí and caipirinha 😍. For the way back we decided to try to the water taxi and then explored the area around the port. It’s time to pack our bags again as tomorrow afternoon our bus goes to Rio 🇧🇷Read more

      Arraial do Cabo

      February 18, 2023 in Brazil ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

      Arriaial De Cabo

      January 23, 2016 in Brazil ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

I haven't written for a few days but we are in the same place and if i'm honest I have taken a little time out to relax and take it all in . This place is really beautiful the beaches are perfect and the atmosphere is very relaxed or should i say it was till yesterday as lots of people started arriving for the weekend. We have actually met someone English which is really unusual in the places we have been , although lots of the people staying in the hostel are keen to practise their English and my Brazilian is improving daily(with the help of sign language) .
The hostel we are staying at is really clean and comfortable and we are currently sharing a dorm with 4 other people . Mark went out last night with Josh and rolled in at 4am pissed as a fart asking for the DIB DIB (his word for a remote control) to turn the air con down. As you can imagine this went down like a lead balloon and one of the guys asked to be moved.
Although it is really cheap out here I have decided to do a little cooking and we head to the supermarket to buy the basics. I have really missed doing the normal things like cooking and cleaning , although i did do hand washing yesterday with the 2 buckets of water and the sink with a washing board built in, oh the joys of backpacking. After dinner we sat and played cards and listened to some music, Mark has said he won't be drinking until carnival now? thats 2 weeks away , we will see!!!!

      Boat Trip

      January 24, 2016 in Brazil ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

We get up early in the morning and decide that today is going to be hot hot hot , there is not a cloud in the sky, and as you can probably tell that is unusual so far.
We have met an Brazilan guy who speaks perfect english so we ask him if hed like to join us , thank god we did because the process of boarding a boat is quite strange here. You have to buy a pass to enter the marina as well as your boat ticket so once boarded we head out for the islands. I can say we werent dissapointed, this place just keeps getting more and more beautiful. One of the islands we go to has a huge tree that looks like a bonsai tree and this place is an ancient indian burial ground . Even though we have factor 50 on the sun is so hot we are still burning. We then ride past a rock called monkey face and it really does look like one although i dont think the pictures do it justice . Heading to the next island Mark and i stay on the boat , and one of the divers pulls a sea urchin from the bottom .
We head back to sure and i say to Mark about going to see the sunset we follow the sun and arrive at Praia de grande(big beach). It is one of the biggest beaches I have seen and curves around for miles. The sunset is a little dissapointing as there are quite a lot of clouds but even this doesnt take away from the beauty of this place .

      Brazilian Traditions

      January 26, 2016 in Brazil ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

It is our last day in Arriaial de cabo and I have to say I am sad to leave this little piece of paradise. The beaches and the waters here are so beautiful and today the waves have been massive but i'm sure our journey will bring many more of these.
Today we were chatting to a couple of people in the hostel and i said that the one thing i really missed was a bath .... they explained that in Brazil they have Motels , now don't get confused as this is not somewhere you drive to they are basically sex chalets that you can rent on an hourly or nightly basis , they all have baths and some even have extra oxygen ,(dont think we'll be needing this)
Today i also had my first Brazilian wax (omfg) i arrived back to the beach 2 hrs later walking like John Wayne , but feel well prepared for the Brazilian way of life but whilst away Mark had been leading Buddy astray so i ordered dinner and we headed back to the hostel to pack.
After a shower we headed down to the nearest and first beach we had seen and participated in an Acai , its like a frozen fruit smoothie and absolutely delicious , (i will definitely be repeating this experience, but not sure about the waxing.) Whilst watching a game of soccer a lovely ending to this week.
