    It's the Final Countdown!

    T-13 hours until liftoff! Final preparations are happening - downloading the necessary apps, charging the electronics, and making sure my passport is with me at all times (it's great practice for the trip, definitely!)

    I'm ready! I'm ready!

    Ok ladies and gents... Its go time!! 🎵I'm leaving on a jet plane! Don't know when I'll be back again.. 🎶

    This is it! Shaunessa and Taylor are in the air heading to Toronto as I write this, and I am on my way to Pearson in about 1 minute... I'm too excited to do anything but dance around and cuddle the pup!

    So close I can taste the potatoes!

    We are about 40 minutes away from landing in Dublin, Ireland and the nearly 6 hour flight has been awesome so far! Shortly after boarding we realized the flight was less than half full... So many empty rows and seats all around us! The three of us all found our own rows to settle in for the flight and started to choose our entertainment.

    No surprises, of course I watched Deadpool.. (if you know me even a little you may know that my obsession with Deadpool is borderline obsessive). And only about 1 hour into the flight we were served our complimentary hot meal. I had the pulled beef (which wasn't awful) and we got celebration cookies as dessert.

    After eating, I layed across all three seats in my bench to settle in and watch the movie, and quickly fell asleep. It has to have been one of the easiest sleeps I have ever had on a plane, being able to lay out is amazing and i highly recommend it 👍.

    A few hours later, we were woken up for breakfast service (banana bread and tea!) in order to get us ready for Dublin time, and i decided to watch a little bit of zoolander 2. That brings us ip to here.. 30 minutes from landing now and I am too excited to do anything but watch my movie on one screen and the flight map on the other!

    Four Courts Hostel

    So as you all know, we have odfficially landed in DUBLIN IRELAND and made our way (without having to ask for help, might I add) all the way to our hostel. We arrived at around 1:30 ready to check in... Only to find out we couldn't check in until 3:00. Lame. We had planned on leaving the bags in the bag locker amd exploring BUT... it was communal and super sketchy. We did NOT want someone stealing our bags on the first day (or any day, for that matter) so we decised to ride it out and stay at the hostel until we could check in

    We played many rounds of crazy 8s and annoyed the front desk person until... Finally! Our room was ready. We climbed up to our room, locked away all of our luggage abd set off for our first day of exploring Dublin. #sbteurotrip    Read more

    Dublin Castle

    When we left the hostel, we decided to look at a map for a brief secons to get an idea of the general area - we knew we wanted to get to Trinity College to see the grounds but we wanted to wander and explore along the way.

    The first place we came to was the amazing Dublin Castle. We stumbled upon it - the gate truly is a mere hole in the wall - and were amazed at how large and beautiful the castle is. We wandered around and looked at all of the plaques on the wall, stopping for a photo op or 2 (of course) and continued on our merey way :) #sbteurotrip    Read more

    Trinity College and the Book Of Kells

    After Dublin castle we made our way to Trinity college (with a lovely young Irish man confirming that we were headed in the right direction) and walked into a campus that can only be described as Hogwarts-like. The buildings were gorgeous and old.. But honestly that wasn't even the best part.

    We headed to the old library and realized they had an exhibit for the Book of Kells... Now for those of you who don't know, the Book of Kells is a gospel which was handwritten by scribes made a long... Long time ago. We walked into the gift shop and realized there was an €11 fee to walk around and see the book.

    We thought... No way man. Thats far too expensive for a simple self guided tour. So what did we do? We just walked in and no one stopped us. Ok, i know... That's probably not the beat thing to do but hey... We are on a budget and like to live dangerously!

    Anyway, the exhibit was truthfully one of the most amazing things we did today. We learned so much about how the book was made and written, and then saw the ACTUAL BOOK LIVE IN PERSON. SERIOUSLY. IT WAS SO AMAZING. LIKE, HOW DID THE SCRIBES MAKE THE LETTERS SO NICE? We were in awe with how they were made and designed that we didnt realize the exhibit wasnt over.

    Then we walked into literally the LARGEST, MOST BEAUTIFUL LIBRARY I HAVE EVER SEEN. It was FILLED with old books that were both hand written and the result of some of the first printing presses ever. There were original works from a variety of famous authors (Arthur Conan Doyle!) and it was honestly one of the moat awe inspiring sights I have seen in my life so far. We marvelled in the greatness for a while and decided to move on before we passed out from library excitement.    Read more

    Grafton Street

    After being amazed by the Book of Kells, we headed over to Grafton Street (the shopping district) to spend a little bit of our money. To be honest, most of the atorea were a little more on the high end and out of our budget, but we did manage to find an amazing jewellery store owned by a third generation Irish family who designed many of the pieces themselves. I picked up a cute ring and necklace, and Shaunessa & Taylor grabbed a ring each themselves.Read more

    Temple Bar

    After grabbing a quick bit of some amazongly fresh cod fish and chips at the famous Leo Burdock's (Snoop Dogg ate fhere), Last stop of the day was to the famous Temple Bar! One of the oldest bars in Ireland (founded in 1840) and home of some famous Irish pot brewed whiskey!

    We listened to some live traditional Irish music while sipping on some Irish Beer, and I had myself a whisky straight. It was a great way to end our first eventful day.. Can't wait for some new adventures tomorrow!!!! #sbteurotrip    Read more

    Guiness is healthier than a glass of OJ.

    We have just embarked on our tour to the Cliffs of Moher with oir AMAZING tour guide, Gavin. Hw is full of stories and information and is absolutely freaking hilarious so I love him already. This is a full day tour, we left at 8am and will be dropped off at 8pm. Im going to update during the day things that I learn and see, so stay tuned for some awesome stories and pictures!

    What I've learned so far:

    The Temple bar district is one of the largest bar-filled areas in Dublin, and built on what was a Medeival village. The roads were originally built for horse and carts, which is why the roads are so small and winding. Also, as Gavin said, they were built by Drunk Irish men FOR Drunk Irish men and so they wind with you as you walk home!

    Dublin castle was originally built by the vikings but then occupied by british 1921. Obviously the Irish didn't like that very much.. The British put the statue of Lady Justice facing the castle and the Irish say its because she is just for the castle and shines her ass on the rest of Ireland.

    Christchurch cathedral is one of the only churches where all religions pray and worships together.

    Arthur guiness signed a 9000 year lease in 1759, and Guiness has more vitamin C per glass than Orange Juice! We found out that the toucan is a large part od advertising because the saying used to be "If one glass of Guiness is good for you, imagine what Two Can do!". The advertising was aimed towards Africa, as Africans drink 40% of the Guiness that is sold worldwide DAILY. Guiness used to be recommended to pregnant women and given to people who gave blood due to the high Iron content... But in 2007 the liquor beureau stopped letting everyone have fun and put an end to that.

    Titanic was built in 1913 built by 40000 irish man and sunk by 1 Englishman. Love it.

    There is a giant walled park known as "Pheonix Park" used to be deer hunting grounds, and now is one of the best places to see Irish wildlife.

    The "Peaceful Police Force" has 10000 unarmed 3000 armed police, and is one of the safest vities in the world!
