      North Bay, Canada

      July 1, 2018 in Canada ⋅ 29 °C

We stayed for a few nights, and visited the family gravesite, along with taking the trail to the famous sugar shack. Although the mosquitoes, black flies, and other large insects tried to feast on us, we made it back after fueling up with a can of DEET. (It does not smell good)
We visited the airport, which reminded us of an old western, with tumbleweeds blowing through as there was not a single soul in the airport. Maybe one security guard. Quiet town, just as we remembered.
We shouldn’t forget that it was Canada Day, and we spent the evening watching North Bay fireworks (I’ll just say they were quaint, that is all) What was not quaint was the emerging shadflies that we couldn’t wait to see. It was only when they began erupting out of the water like a 70’s horror movie did we have to leave. They still clung to our shirts as we left.
