Ein perfektes Ende Kanadas - Montreal

Nun ist es soweit, unsere letzte Station in Kanada - Montreal.

Wie bereits in Quebec nutzen wir die Plattform Couchsurfing. Dieses Mal wohnten wir bei drei jungen Franzosen. Sie haben uns direkt sehr herzlich empfangen, zeigten uns erste Highlights der Stadt und gaben uns unzählige Tipps, wie wir Montreal am besten genießen können (Fokus: Essen😍).

Der nächste Stadtmarathon stand also an. Zu Fuß entdeckten wir die Stadt und Kulinarik von Montreal. Völlig begeistert von der Vielfältigkeit der Stadt, Toleranz der Menschen und der ausgeglichenen Atmosphäre, fühlten wir uns direkt super wohl. Wir nahmen die Tipps unserer Gastgeber sehr ernst und probierten in den zwei Tagen sämtliche Spezialitäten Montreals wie Austern, Bagels, das beste Poutine der Stadt, Smoked Meat, ...

Abgerundet wurde der erste Tag durch ein Wiedersehen mit dem Austauschschüler von Max, die sich vor 12 Jahren das letzte Mal gesehen haben.

Zum Abschluss unseres Aufenthalts organisierten unsere Gastgeber einen entspannten Abend mit einigen ihrer Freunden und leckeren Crepes.

Highlight der Tage: das Smoked Meat Sandwich, welches zu 99% aus Fleisch besteht und sogar Lisa super gut geschmeckt hat

Visit with Ashlynn

Spent the night with Ashlynn and Hugo and enjoyed seeing their place and neighborhood (Plateau and Mile End) on foot! Hard to believe only -2 for mid January!
Ordered an Uber that didn’t show and had to run down the street to get a cab at 5:30am. It was nice to be at the airport with time to spare. Sitting on the plane for the last hour and finally ready to take off!

Day 3
Travel to Montreal

Up and a nice breakfast, then headed to the dock for water and fuel. I got off at the dock to try and find my car and headed to the airport. There I picked up a rental car (Kia Soul) and drove 6hrs to Montreal. Got to Ashlynn’s place and hung with her for a little while before needed to find a place to move my car. We walked to the depeneaur, to get a car pass only to find that they discontinued it. I found parking on the street and it was past the meter time, so stayed there. Ashlynn grilled some tofu and had some potato salad with it…. We got caught in the rain but fun to see the layout of the back yard.
Futon pulled out and ready for bed…. Lots of driving in the last few days!!Read more

Day 14
North America bound

Up early and got some coffee, eat a mango and watermelon, followed by the routine of reading outside, playing with the dogs and doing some yoga. The hosts invited me to join them for a traditional Venezuelan breakfast and I accepted.
After I biked to Walmart to buy some coffee as a gift and back to the house to shower and get ready for my flight.
My throat was scratchy yesterday and is starting to hurt today. I can’t find anything but Halls at Walmart. Hoping it is just allergies to the cat and dogs.
Fabiola drove me to the airport ($10) and I had plenty of time. The security line was packed and I got to the end of the line only to find I needed a hard copy boarding pass. Went to wait in the Air Canada line and back to an even longer security line. Lots of standing! Long and uncomfortable flight. I had hoped to work, but the cabin was dark, cramped and I wore my mask the whole time… so tried to rest instead.
Arrived to Ashlynn’s at 10pm and chatted for awhile before going to bed. She has health concoctions and tinctures that she makes so I took a few for my throat as I am supposed to leave for Antigua on Thursday.Read more
