      Algonquin Provincial Park

      September 12, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Moose! Well one moose, but almost immediately upon entering the park there is a moose about a hundred yards off the road munching down on some swamp veggies. The moose was conveniently located just after a sign that said "be prepared to stop". After checking out the moose, I made my way towards my campsite. I stayed at the lake of two rivers. Upon check in another gentleman is also about to get a site and suggests we split the site for the night (campsites in Canada are typically $45 a night! Even with the exchange that is pretty steep). I agree and we make fast friends. Wally has a truck which I can keep my food in for the night as there was a bear spotted in the area. We talk around a campfire for a couple hours and I get a tip on a short hike for the next day. Good thing we made a fire cause it got cold that night. 6C which is about 42F; it felt like it dipped into the 30s.

The next morning, my judge of character is good and Wally hasn't made off with my food or any of my gear. After I shower and warm up, I head for the hike Wally recommended. It was a pretty good view of the area, but honestly I wasn't impressed. A beautiful area, but it's got nothing on NE. After the hike, I make my way out of the park and head west towards Michigan. It's a beautiful day, and the ride was nice. Next stop is Sturgeon Bay Provincial Park.

Pictures: Moose, not easy to see but it's there. The lake in my campsite in the morning. Vista from the hike. Nicely spaced trees near the vista.

      Lake of Two Rivers Campground

      August 23, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Last night after dinner we tried out our new game Anomia. Nobody was a huge fan of it except Melissa (she kept winning). So we switched to Mille Bourne but that's wasn't a huge hit either. We played one game which Melissa and I won. I finished off the night by curling up in my tent and watching Alex Cross.

This morning we got our second surprises. We both got little metal models that you put together. Mine is a movie projector and Melissa's is a piano. After working on mine for a bit our Grandparents arrived to spend the day with us. After lunch we're planning on heading to the logging trail.

      Lake of Two Rivers Campground

      August 24, 2017 in Canada ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

When we got back to the campground last night we had a camp fire. Mom made her very first s'more. Someone had always made her one when she wanted one. Our s'mores were very yummy! We're considering having another fire tonight. Once the fire was out we headed in the trailer for the warmth and the card game Monopoly Deal. When we use to go on vacations we LOVED the game but it's been so long that none of us remembered how to play or really anything about the game. Once we got the hang of it we played until almost midnight. Everyone loved it. After each game Dad would say bedtime and we all wanted to play another round instead.

Once I returned to my freezing cold tent, I once again watched a movie (All Roads Lead to Rome) well I finished off my posts from yesterday before going to sleep.

I now still lie in my tent not wanting to get up because it is FREEZING! We are however planning on doing the lookout trail before lunch. Followed by another trail after lunch. So I do unfortunately have to brave the cold. Wish me luck!
