      Corner Brook

      May 13, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 3 °C

      Day 2 Biking

      June 12, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

      ~ 100 km today
      Black duck to corner brook
      Great ride

      Highlights today
      - surprised with good quality of trail, it is not perfect and challenging in places but it seems to get better as the day goes along
      - railbed grades are geriatric friendly
      - Dan got his beer in Gallant’s, he had to wait 10 minutes for it to open at noon 😉
      - In the 7-11 bar we met Devon, a former student of Sean (25 and not there for the beer) in Corner Brook.
I asked Devon if he knew Sean … and he then said yes, his birthday is April 27, 1972, he is 50 this year!
Then he got all our info 😉

      Take aways from today
      - follow your instincts in trip preparation, I should have bought a new back rack, but had it professionally refitted twice and it broke yesterday and today. We made repairs and will get a new rack installed tomorrow morning.
      - 29” rims are far more efficient tan 27” and the irony is Dan bought a used Giant with 27” rims before I bought mine and when I was looking to buy Dan told me to get a 29’er. Now when I zip past him, know he is going to sell his giant and buy a 29’er. The efficiency of the 29’er is awesome.
The inside joke is karma on Dan as for years on our kayak trips, his glass kayak was always ahead of our less efficient plastic boats😉
