The next stop was at Puna Pau. It is a volcanic crater where the pukao (hats of the moai) were carved. There are about 20 carved pukaos lying around carved and ready to be tranported. Many of the pukaos have tribal petroglyphs with canoes and other designs.Read more

From the top of the crater, there were lovely views of Hanga Roa and the crater used to extract the stones for the pukaos. The crater is rich in red scoria or hani-hani used for making the hats and other smaller moais.Read more

So viele Namen für diese kleine Insel.

Hach, was sollen wir sagen.... 😍
Ein krönender Abschluss!

Die am weitesten isolierte, jedoch bewohnte Insel der Welt.
2.100km zum nächten Nachbarn.
3.500km von Chile entfernt.
Geografisch gehören sie zu Polynesien, politisch zu Chile.

Ein Freilichtmuseum mit einem Dorf in der Mitte und einer Landebahn, die als Notfallpiste für die Spaceshuttles gebaut wurde.
Es gibt nur eine einzige Stadt|Dorf auf der Insel, 6.000 Einwohner. Die längste Entfernung ist etwa 30 km breit, und zwar von Ost nach West.

Wir waren die 5 Tage mit Scooter und Motorrad unterwegs und hätten definitiv noch bleiben können. Bleiben um alle 863 steinfiguren zu finden 😂Read more

Exit from Ana Te Pahu cave

At around 1 pm, after walking inside the cave for more than an hour, we existed the cave in the middle of lava fields through a tiny hole in the roof of the cave. It was a fantastic experience.
