    Prague, Czech Republicpp

    April 17, 2018 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Just arrived, 25 degrees and not a cloud in....oh just spotted one.The entrance to the famous bridge of saints, will attach a couple of pics of the bridge on next entry. The famous square minus the clock which is being restored and me on the highest point at lookout tower obviously designed with Eiffel in mind, that's not the only way to get high around here as you'll see from the "sweets" on display.Read more

Everywhere looks deserted! Where are all the people? Ixxx

Been an absence of tourists, now it's hard to get a pic without someone in it!

Ahhh! There are people there then! I was beginning to think u were the only one in Europe! Donna would probably like those kind of 'sweets' ;)

    "Third time's a charm"

    September 20, 2015 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Sorry the updates have been a bit slack, we've been camping the last 3 days and it's a bit harder to do.

On Saturday we went in to Prague to try and catch a free waking tour. The wak in to the city was lovely, 25degrees and we saw our first squirrel! We couldn't find where the tour started so missed it but had a wonder around anyway. On Sunday we tried to get the tour again at 11am but thanks to a ticket mishap (ie we had to find where you could buy them!) arrived late! We did catch the 2pm though and it was very good, so much interesting history in Czech Republic. After the tour we went to the George and Dragon to watch the tense game between ABs - Argentina. There was some concern that we might be going to see a france - argentina game until Sonny Bill saved the day! We ended up at a table with some bloke that also went to Lincoln around the same time Nick did (small world!) and his Australian and Czech friends.

Today was spent getting to Vienna. We're planning on getting to a 10.30am tour tomorrow morning... To be continued!

Don't you just love the buildings and churches. I always wanted to watch the squirrels for ages but nobody else would wait with me for that long. Love Mummy Till

We saw another squirrel today at the zoo and it walked right up to us! Probably could've touched it. Luckily we both enjoy watching them haha

    Day 55: Prague, Czech Republic

    August 14, 2017 in Czech Republic ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

My summer cold has developed so we took it "easy" today. Turns out we ended up walking 20 km (without realizing) and walked all the way to the castle to find out it closed in half an hour by the time we got there and it takes 3-4 hours to see it all. Good thing is we have another two full days so we will definitely go back.

Prague is beautiful though (and insanely crowded) and we got to see the Astronomical Clock in action in the Old Town Square. There's a lot of musicians that are really good in the square too! We also saw the Jewish Quarter and St. Charles bridge which were super cool. We had three really great, cheap meals too. We went to a piercing parlour so Zoë could get an ear piercing that apparently helps reduce migraines to find out it doesn't actually help, but it was a really interesting place to see.

    Day 57: Prague, Czech Republic

    August 16, 2017 in Czech Republic ⋅ 🌙 15 °C

Today we did two walking tours. One of the city of Prague itself and one of the Prague Castle. They were both pretty cool and interesting. We got poured on for a good part of the day, but we learnt a lot and met some cool people, including a fellow Canadian!

We walked around and saw the Wenceslas Square, Old Town Square, Mozart Theatre, Old Jewish District, Old New Synagogue, Old Jewish Cemetery, Powder Tower, and more. It was a really interesting tour. We also found Chris' doppelgänger (it was hilarious). After the first tour, about ten of us went to a local restaurant and had some authentic Czech food. I had Beef Goulash with dumplings and a potato latke and it was actually really good.

On the castle tour, we saw a lot of cool things too: the Loreto, Černín Palace, Hradčany square, Masaryk statue, Schwarzenberg Palace, Matías Gate, St. Vitus Cathedral, Malá Strana (The Lesser Quarter), Hradčany (The Castle District), St. Nicholas Church, St. George’s Basilica, Royal Courtyards, The Black Tower, John Lennon Wall, and Charles Bridge.

The John Lennon wall was created after his assassination so he never actually went to it and we saw how high the water got from the last flood in 2002. We also saw the non-smiling, no matter what guards by the castle and had amazing views of Prague.

    DOX, Prague

    August 16, 2017 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Read more
