    Karlovy Vary

July 25, 2015 in Czech Republic

    Samedi, 25 juillet 2015
Read more

    Karlovy Vary

    Czech republic is for newlyweds!

October 24, 2017 in Czech Republic

A generous gift from Éva for our wedding, the three day trip ( extended to four!) came with childcare in the shape of Éva herself! Girls even more excited than us, got dropped of on Thursday evening in Zugló ( 14th district of Budapest, where Éva lives), while our child-free long weekend kicked off meeting Gosha. Gosha recently left his capital markets comfort zone in banking and moved over to tech as the CFO of a price comparison start-up run by insecure overachievers ( like we once were, hehe). The next day called for a breakfast out at the Four Seasons here in Budapest, as I ungraciously misses our post wedding breakfast there four months ago due to too much pálinka at the said wedding the night before. Anyway, breakfast in the circle of richest and weirdest was amazing, and off we set. A 6.5 hour drive through Hungary, Slovakia and lots of Czech territory. Which was full of billboards with Czech flags all over the country ( government bans billboards on roadsides and orders to remove them, advertisers stick flags on them as state symbols cannot be removed! Creayive industry just got creative!). Full day of drivibg brought us to the beautiful Karlovy vary with it's crisp winter air, smell of burning wood, and heavy Czech food ( not for vegans..!). Two nights stay at the poppy hotel, walks in karlovy vary ( a beautiful town on a river, with very upmarket shops and lots of spa-like hotels focussing on medical treatment of whatever you may think you have), and lots of reading ( best of it in the grand lobby of the Pupp hotel). Our stay ended with a two hour treatment ( called procedures!) At our own poppy hotel including massage, lavender scrubs and wraps, and what not. Relaxed, we set off to Krumlov, our last night stay to shorten the return trip. A beautiful town in the middle of nowhere, and amazingly looking like a mini Tallinn. Featuring a beautiful tiny speak- easy like bar Apotheke. One of the best bars I have probably been to ( sorry NY and London, but the key is to not overdo it!). Next day- back to Budapest to reunite with the girls , not before we stopped for lunch at Marché Movenpick ( long story, but I win!).Read more
