Aufregend vom Start am Altmarkt in Dresden bis zum ersten Tagesziel in Olemouc.
Day 1 is in the books. Today we....
Met our fellow teams ins Dresden
Exhanged a paper click for a banana
Crossed into the czech republic and had some local beer and sausage
Followed a goddess through the country side
Visited castles and rocks near Jicin
Finally made our way to Olomouc
Well it took 29 hours but the tour party has finally arrived in Olomouc and checked into the Clarion Congress Hotel!
We have decided not to walk into town after all, as our18.30 arrival hasn't left us much turnaround time before dinner, so the important things took priority, you know things like getting luggage to rooms, freshening up and unpacking in the case of the staff...
...In the case of nearly EVERY student on the trip it was "let's immediately find the Wi-Fi code because OMG it's been over 10 hours since I had a signal and I can't cope LOL and what am I gonna do about my 'Snapchat Streak' with my BFF back in Northampton ROFL!!!!😆😆😆😆"
On the topic of rooms I have to admit to feeling a little bit guilty: all of the staff are actually in single rooms for this hotel which is lovely but whereas my colleagues opened their doors to their room and en-suite; on opening mine I stepped into the lobby, proceeded into the lounge and leisurely strolled back round to my bedroom and en-suite! In many ways it's more problematic as with SO much space and room it might be easier to lose things, so reluctantly I suppose I can take one for the team this time round!?!
Dinner is in 5 minutes in the hotel restaurant and then I imagine the exhaustion will kick in; first concert day tomorrow, Kromeriz here we come!!!Read more
Well we're all up, if not quite button bright and wide awake in every case!
Feedback on beds and pillows seems to be very positive (who would have thought that teenagers would be so particular with their sleeping requirements?!) and on the whole everyone seems to have had a good night's sleep, and certainly happy to have been able to sleep lying down!
We checked to make sure that we saw everyone at breakfast, so if you don't see your little cherub on the accompanying shots please rest assured that they made it down. Breakfast itself was fantastic. Loads of choice whether hot or cold: yoghurts, cereals, bread, pastries, bacon, eggs, sausages, sweetcorn & brussel sprouts (I kid you not!), cheese, cold meats...there really was something for everyone.
Rehearsals now until 11.00 (must post photos of the rehearsal space!) and we'll get going to Kromeriz hopefully around 11.45.Read more
We've talked a little about the food on our tour, which has actually been very good. The meals in Kromeriz and Luhacovice were both lovely (and crucially not identical!) and the buffet from the Clarion Congress Hotel was also extremely nice.
The breakfast buffet is really good too so we have a task for you. You will need to download "Left Bank Two" by Wayne Hill and have that track playing as the accompaniment as you browse the attached photo gallery, you must get the music going BEFORE viewing the photos or else the whole effect and ambience will be lost!
Good morning class!
Now if you've organised your equipment like we asked then you should already have your copies of 'Left Bank Two' by Wayne Hill to play as accompaniment music, so you can turn to the beginning of your recording to view this morning's gallery! If you don't have your copy with you then you'll have to borrow from a friend, or quickly get a copy organised, and we will have written your name on the board...any further transgressions and we're afraid it will be a lunchtime detention!
As the title suggests, we seem to have started something off with our take on the BBC's Ten Pieces and our own little "Gallery of "Breakfasts" so we're coming up with ideas for additional galleries...enjoy!!!!Read more
Finally made it into Moravia... and here’s a 13th century Catholic church built in the Baroque architectural style peaking out from the hilltop. The three domes represent the Holy Trinity.
