What a surprise to see an entire valley at the bottom! This is what happens when you are in a city built high up and the valley below is full of farm land. It is actually a caldera that last erupted in 467, and the name is from the original Cotocollao language. There are hiking trails to get down and a hotel up at the top with great views.
I thought it interesting that there will be apartments built here with tennis courts of all things being a selling point.Read more

Up bright and early at 6:30am we decided to make the most of the only day we are spending in Quito.
We booked a morning tour with Gabby and the Ecuador Family Tours.
With Jonny driving, Gabby explaining everything, and Cyrus just chilling - we headed to our fits stop - and probably with most beautiful place in Ecuador - Geobotanic Reserve of Pululahua.
The photos speak for them selves, but what you are looking at is the volcano crater. Lots of farms are built there as the ground is very fertile.
You just want to hope the volcano doesn’t erupt!Read more
