La estadía en Tumbaco se supone que sería corta, pero la vida tiene sus sorpresas. Luis y Laura llegaron para convertirse en parte de nuestras vidas, en familia, amigos entrañables. Laura con su calle de saber y sabores y el querido Luis hombre de ciencia con deliciosas conversaciones. De Tumba fuimos y volvimos, fue guarida trinchera y punto de encuentro por mucho rato. Notre première Casa de Ciclista! Chez Santiago et Ana Lucia.

Deux grosses montées de 300m dans la matinée, entrecoupées d’une descente épique. On retraverse le canyon traversé la veille, la profondeur est impressionnante!
Pause lunch à côté de l’aéroport de Quito. Arrivée à la casa de Ciclista vers 15h à Tumbaco, assez tôt pour relaxer et jaser avec Santiago, le propriétaire, initiateur du lieu et mécanicien, ainsi qu’avec Cristian, un argentin sur la route depuis un an et demi, du Sud au Nord. Nous passons la soirée à discuter avec Christian et échangeons des infos sur nos trajets passés et à venir.Read more

"As I write this the airport lights have turned off. We are not sure when the light will return. Time passes differently in South America.

Dimitri’s short sentences are indicative of the frenetic pace often encountered here. Of course there is another side to this. A great malaise frequently settles across the land. I like to think the dichotomy formed by these two sides might be apparent to Dimitri too.

In situations like this I like to examine detail. Images often capture much more than the single moment of time they picture.

We missed our flight to Lima. We hustled through the airport to no avail.

Another big city. It's 60km long and 8km wide. Respect for that. Even on the height of 4000m we couldn't see the beginning nor the end of this wide stretched city.
Anyway, the city is OK, but the mountain view is OP.
But for real Quito... How the fck does your bus system work. Nobody seems to know, not even the ticket counter could help us out.Read more
