    Nullabor Straight

    June 20, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

    Hey everyone!

I somehow deleted my first post so I'm going to try again!

We are finally off on the first of three separate legs of our extended holiday!

We got up early this morning hoping to leave at 6am, but obviously didn't make it or I wouldn't mention it! We didn't end up leaving until after 730am, and didn't leave the BP to the south of town until about 8am!

We did however, make it further than expected, and are staying in a dog-friendly room in the Eucla Motel. The rooms are pretty good and the food was amazing. Highly recommend if you happen to find yourself in the area... ;)

Today we stopped at Norseman, Belladonia and Madura. Very brief stops today. The last stop was a touch harder to get Walker in the car but he did and then continued to sleep beautifully!

The one other thing to mention about Eucla.....the "timezone". Apparently we have a new timezone in the world. Western Central Time. Yeh, pretty sure that's not a thing. But now we are halfway between Perth and Adelaide...win!

    To Ceduna

    June 21, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Today's journey consisted of an early start (although with the "timezone" it ended up not that early).

It was a fairly uneventful day really. Barely any animal sightings. We drove from Eucla and filled up at Border Village, for those who havent been across the Nullabor "village" is a bit extreme!

We were planning to get past Ceduna today but once we got here we decided to stay. We thought we would give Walker a really good run and start nice and early in the morning and see how far we can get.

Tonight we stopped at the Shelly Beach Camp Ground. We had private beach access where dogs can go off leash which was awesome for Walker to really get running!

    To Murray Bridge

    June 22, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

So we thought we had been getting up reasonably early this trip, unfortunately Walker didn't think so and woke us up at 4am demanding to go outside. He is getting much better on this trip though. We had already planned on leaving early so we thought bugger it, we'd just get up and go and were on the road a little after 5am.

We stopped for lunch at Port Augusta and found a good area to run Walker. He is still going strong...he is getting frustrated from being in the car for so long but still behaving! Especially with the long long days of driving (we are averaging around 9 hours of driving (plus stops) each day. I would probably do it again.

We decided early in the morning to stick to the original plan and stay the night in Murray Bridge, that would leave us with 8.5 hours left to drive tomorrow. We ended up arriving around 3pm so we had time to relax and find a dog park.

I would definitely recommend staying in Murray Bridge. We stopped at the Murray Bridge Central Olympic Motel. It isn't much to look at from the outside but it's very dog friendly, the rooms are comfortable and it is very close to town and the dog park.

Takeaway Pizza tonight fo dinner...I got the Lamb Yiros pizza and it was bloody amazing!! It was basically a souvlaki on a pizza! Mmm

    Landing Home!

    June 23, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

Today was a little harder to get up, no real surprises there, with the time difference meaning each day we have been getting up early than the day before but we got on the road a tad after 5am.

No long stops today, just out at Tailem Bend, Bordertown. Horsham and a slightly longer one at Ballan. The end of a journey is difficult as you just. want. to. get. home.

Walker was also feeling it. Not getting a good run and lunch and the fourth straight day of being locked in a car, he got pretty restless towards the end!
