    Inselrundfahrt Barbados

    December 9, 2019 in Barbados ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Teil 2 folgt...

    2(5) Barbados, Speightstown

    December 8, 2024 in Barbados ⋅ 🌬 29 °C

    Last full day 🙈

    February 22 in Barbados ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

So today is the Browns last full day - can’t believe we’ve reached the end of this amazing 29 day adventure - actually day 28 but tomorrow isn’t a full day !
We walked to cafe de Paris for breakfast and believe me the Browns know how to breakfast including mimosas!
We then took them upstairs in Limegrove - some of these shops are amazing and really worth a visit but the place is just dead !
Back to the pool for a final swim along but also managed to talk the girls into going for a walk up to Sandy lane and much as they moaned some of those houses are jaw dropping ! We then went to Just Grillin to get girls final takeaway cheeseburger - me and mummy just had to have a glass of wine whilst waiting for the order 🤣
Girls finished eating - Peter dead on a sunbed and the monkeys decided to call to say farewell - just amazing x
Lots of tears as they drove off , we’ve all had the best time and we are so lucky to have had all of our family to visit on this most beautiful of islands .
We walked over to the beach for our final sunset and what a sunset it was and to top it off met up with friends Sue & Alan - you can’t go anywhere these days can you🤣
Showered and changed and walked to Michael Hinds for drinks at the bar and an amazing dinner sat outside - this place should be packed - amazing food and staff!
A final evening walk home in the heat before returning to the cold
We’re going to miss you Barbados - you’ve surpassed yourself x

    Feelin hot hot hot

    February 21 in Barbados ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

Today was about the hottest day of the month . The girls wanted a beach day so we went down to Folkestone beach and had an amazing time jumping the waves, watching flying fish and swimming out to the pontoon belonging to the Sandpioer Hotel.
Drinks at Sea & Surf and then a walk home before a swim in the pool and Natalie started packing for their return home tomorrow 😢
They’ve had an amazing time as have we all and it will be sad to see them go tomorrow - 9 nights just isn’t enough.
We went out for dinner to Calma - just not the best - very average with a high end price tag ! It’s Barbados 🙈
Great company, lots of laughs and great fun - that in itself is priceless x

    Locked out of paradise !

    February 20 in Barbados ⋅ 🌙 26 °C

Walked Pete the invalid to Limegrove for a coffee then home to convince Natalie we needed a walk along the beach and she thankfully agreed ! The sea was so calm and the tide was low so a lovely walk, saw the emaciated cat again!
Back to the villa for pool time and reading then pool Man arrived which put paid to that for an hour or so !
Sat on patio and realised door was in fact locked ! Tried and tried to unlock it and finally had to call housekeeper to come and let us back in - eventually realised we had a keysafe and perhaps that key fitted - which it did panic over.
Boys walked to surfside for a couple of beers - which Mike loved - pool fun after and then getting ready for table Booked at Drift - turned up and waited and waited to be served - appalling service so we all agreed to walk out and I told the manager why - he couldn’t give two hoots so we made the right decision !
Walked to West Bar where beer and wine were cold and the food was top notch. Oh and I got a new hairdo courtesy of the girls
Bellies full we walked home in the lovely breeze and played cards on the patio

    Rainbow and showers

    February 19 in Barbados ⋅ 🌬 25 °C

Heavy showers this morning - out for coffee and saw an amazing rainbow as the schoolchildren dodged the rain.
Soon dried up and Mike took the girls snorkelling on the reef while Natalie and I went souvenir shopping.
Boys went off to Calma beach bar and we had pool acrobatics - by the girls not me and mummy !
Card games to get out of the sun after lunch.
A photoshoot in the garden before heading to Rustic Chef for a fabulous meal and lots of laughter. (Trying on Margys glasses ) Going to struggle as the countdown starts to going home 🙈

    A day of rest !

    February 18 in Barbados ⋅ 🌬 25 °C

A strange day - Mike wanted a pool day and thanks to Peter’s triple salchow last night - a pool day it was!
Pete’s in agony so we left him and went off to the supermarket , met Cheryl and Franco - I’ve seen them more here than I ever do at home and she’s looking so well!
Left the Browns to have breakfast at Carisma and spent the day reading, answering emails and dealing with a dodgy boiler 🙈
Natalie and I went for a walk to the Duty Free Centre mid afternoon while the kids and daddy had pool games and joined them on our return before getting ready to ‘hobble’ to Michael Hines bar for drinks before a hearty meal at Just Grillin - it’s Pete’s favourite and so very basic but everyone loved their food . Early night for all - let’s see what tomorrow brings x

    Alleynes beach day

    February 18 in Barbados ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

Guy and Darby’s last day so we took the wildest reggae bus to Alleynes and booked a table at Jujus. The tuna sandwiches were as usual amazing! The sun was hot and the sea was like a bath.
Mike,Darby and I managed to walk back along the beach as it was low tide and what a beautiful walk it was.
Lots of fun in the pool this afternoon before Guy and Darby got changed to leave - sad faces for the end of a perfect holiday for them and a love for this beautiful island- till next time x
Quick shower for the rest of us and a walk to the beach to watch an amazing sunset, boys took the girls out for sundowners before we all met up and went for a meal at Tides. The girls sat at the bar drinking mocktails, living their best lives and then we sat down for an amazing meal with the sea a few feet away! The girls will Never forgive me, I’d told the restaurant it was their birthdays and not only did they get cake with a sparkler each, the Gypsy Kings came and sang to them - it’s just not the done thing when you’re 11 and 13 🙈.
We had a lovely walk home and then Peter fell down the step he’s been telling everybody to be careful with for the last three weeks!!! He then woke me at 3am to ask if I had a knee brace - of course just let me get you one - give me strength !

    Catamaran day

    February 15 in Barbados ⋅ 🌬 26 °C

Just wow what a fabulous day.
Taxi pick up early to get us down to the port and we were soon off.
First we swam off the boat to look for 🐢 sadly we didn’t see any which was a shame for the girls, then further down the coast to a shipwreck from 1919, literally thousands of fish of all different colours. Next we anchored outside Rhiannas new house at Sandy Lane , had a great lunch and then spent a long time in the water horsing around.
We left to return to port with tunes blasting and singing and dancing, with a piece of carrot cake thrown in.
We got back tired, burnt and windswept but what a day.
There’s also a carnival in Holetown so the whole place is jam packed with family’s, lots of stalls and food shacks, it’s lovely to see the place so busy.
Cooked a lasagne while the boys went out for a beer, Guy and Darbs had the energy to go out for dinner but us girls are shattered so an early night it is .

    Valentines

    February 14 in Barbados ⋅ 🌬 24 °C

Everyone up early which we expect ! Guy called to say there were lots of monkeys in the next avenue and there certainly were and the girls were thrilled to see them, even though we passed a dead toad on the way - Georgia said what’s that then spent the rest of the day saying she had seen a dead turd!
Breakfast at cafe de Paris followed be a pool morning then a trip along the beach for swimming at Folkestone with a break on Sandpipers pontoon, the girls were thrilled. Drinks and lunch at Sea and Surf and coconut water on the way back to the villa. Somehow lost three members of the party on the way home (surf side beach bar calling) but fun time in the pool once they got back. A downpour before we went back out for dinner at Nishi - Natalie decided to walk over loose stones to put a request in with the singer - went AOT and took the tablecloth and table contents with her 🙈
