    Richtung --> Nord

    July 19 in Finland

Morgen geht's weiter... 😍❤️😍

Joen yö - night by the river

    August 24 in Finland

"Joen yö" is a big event in Joensuu which is once a year. In the afternoon/evening they started with normal shops on the street next to the river. Mostly there were some politics shops/tents or something to buy food. The churches were also opened to have a quiet place to calm down and also selled soup.

In the evening it got more interesting. They made a bonfire in the middle of the river at the small island on midnight. The trees were lighted up in a red color & also the bridge was illuminated.

It was very nice, even though I was still a bit sick.

    Supermarkets & Food

    September 4 in Finland

Yay! Next to the Prisma Mall is a Lidl store😍 They have in a couple of weeks a "German week". I bet that they will sell pretzels, beer and german sausages. But I really hope that they will have "Maultaschen" 😋🤩 I miss this food & also "Schnitzel". I won't survive 1 Year without it. (everyone who knows me, will agree😂)
Let's see if there is a restaurant which offers German food or Schnitzel with mushroom sauce. I only found Wiener Schnitzel 😔 But it's better then nothing 😄Read more

Cooking, Sauna & a lot to talk

    September 14 in Finland

I met a few students in one of their Apartment. We bought food, cooked together (Wraps), talked & drunk a bit and went to their own sauna. We were more then 10 students, so we were divided into 3 groups for sauna.

I took the first 2 pictures on the way to the Apartment in the evening (6 p.m.) and the last picture on the way back home in the morning (6 a.m.)

The finnish sauna was heated till 80 degrees (in the beginning only 60 degrees) but it felt so much warmer. We kind a had to cuddle their, because it's a small sauna and we tried to put 5 people inside 😂Read more

    Joensuu (at day & night)

    September 14 in Finland

The first 2 pictures show the island in Joensuu from the back side. There was also the "Joen Yö" event.
The next photo is from the church & then one a few hours earlier. The view is from one of the bridges over the river Pielisjoki.
The last photo is made a few weeks later at 9 a.m.

    Aurora in Joensuu

    September 10 in Finland

The Aurora / Northern lights were noticeable at the sky. One student took this picture. At my place I have seen the Aurora only lightly above the trees.

I read that there is an Aurora storm from 11.9. of 12.9.
So may we have luck and can see them again. If yes, I will load up more pictures in this post

    October 7 in Finland

I wanted to stay minimum 2 weeks vegetarien. I did it for one month and it felt good. But I still had the feeling, that something is missing. They have really good tofu here, that made it easier.

Now I continued eating meat sometimes. I want to try new things here and then it's hard to stay vegetarien. But I still enjoy tofu and my host family also occasionally eat it with me.

I'm cooking for the whole family and I want to make it as healthy as possible (especially for the kids). It gives me also the chance to improve my cooking skills and trying out new recipes.Read more

    The first snow!

    October 5 in Finland

On Friday the 5.10. it snowed the first time😍 Only for ~3h and then it melted.
In the last picture you can see my small cottage. Inside is my room and a sauna. Sadly, the sauna is only for the summer. The water pipes would freeze in the autumn/winter/spring. But inside of the house is a normal sauna

    Seen, Ren und Panoramen

    August 26 in Finland

Read more
