    Roscoff - FR

    May 21, 2016 in France

All ready for the next leg. Shops are mostly closed in France on Sundays so went shopping for some provisions to see me through 2mrw.

    Beach Hoping

    June 14, 2017 in France

After yesterday's walking we decided a beach day was in order. We started off on our local beach just 100m from the flat. Midmorning the tide was still in and Hazel ventured in for a swim although I decided it was just too cold so opted for a sleep on a warm beach. By lunch time the sea had gone out making it possible to walk across the bay to the other secluded beaches. So after a lunch of Crepes we set out to a beach on the opposite side of the bay. Besides a few houses there is not much on this side so the white sandy beaches are mostly deserted.

We pitched the tent and spent the rest of the afternoon taking on some rays while keeping one eye on the tide.

    Arrived in Roscoff

    June 10, 2017 in France

Just arrived in Roscoff and had our first experience of driving on the wrong side. Traffic was very quiet and satnav guided us to the accommodation, so no problems so far.

The sea crossing was not to bad and so we managed to get approximately 5-6 hours sleep in our little cabin without feeling ill. 🤢

    Anyone for crab?

    June 10, 2017 in France

Lots of eating places in Riscoff. Particularly ones specialising in Crepes, the local speciality. We decided on a fish lunch in the shade as it was very hot in the sun although windy (which Roscoff is known for). Hazel had a bowl of mussels with chips while I went with a set menu which included a fish dish which was in a pineapple and ginger source, a bit strange but nice all the same.

Having downed a bottle of stout and a large glass of cognac with her Crepe this evening Hazel needed a walk along the front again tonight.

If she had stuck with the apple juice like me she would have been fine 😋

Although Hazel had done some driving today so may be she deserved a night cap or two!

Lovely warm evening again and still light gone 9 pm.

    Island of Lle-de-Batz

    June 11, 2017 in France

Today we took a boat trip from Roscoff to the island of Batz, a short journey of approximately 20 Minutes. A beautiful island with only a 1000 inhabitants and lots of secluded white sandy beaches.

We found a nice spot on a beach and setup the tent. Although it was very windy the tent shelter us from worst of it and so we spent the afternoon sun bathing.

    Visit to Morlaix

    June 12, 2017 in France

Today we did our first adventure in the car to the town of Morlaix. Unfortunately the town was a disappointment even through we paid for a mini train ride around it. There were some interesting old buildings otherwise it was a little run down as compared to Roscoff.

At some stage in the distant past it had obviously been a wealthy town from the status and grandeur of the old buildings.

It's also well known for its pink granite viaduct carrying train's from Paris to Brest above the town centre.Read more
