Touvre aireApril 26 in France
The morning was taken up with driving on a mixture of country roads and motorways. Thankfully there were a lot fewer roundabouts than yesterday! We stopped in a town centre car park with van services but were disappointed to find that none of the bays was big enough for us to park in. We didn't feel comfortable settling in for the night whilst taking up 4 spaces and the fact there was nowhere for Poppy to easily go to the toilet made up our minds to move on after lunch. Will picked up a baguette and a couple of cream tarts from a nearby boulangerie (delicious but so much more expensive than in Spain) and after we'd lunched, we set off towards Touvre aire, 20km away.
To our delight it turned out to be a beautiful 6 place, dedicated, edge of town aire with large gravel bays divided by hedges or grass. Being France, we had no qualms about getting out the table, chairs, awning and drying. Sitting with Poppy in the intermittent but warm sunshine while Will played guitar and Vicky blogged, made for a very enjoyable afternoon!Read more
