Today we went to Walt Disney Studios, which is the second themepark in the Disneyland complex. It was another day of fun and frivolity.

Our day started a little later than yesterday with everyone needing a bit longer to get started after a midnight finish the day before. We also ended up finishing earlier as the fireworks display was cancelled and the park closed at 9:30pm due to the riots in Paris that are causing disruptions to public transport. However we still eked out as much value of our time as possible, including deferring dinner until we got back to the apartment at 10pm, rather than giving up our chance to be on the rides while the park was still open.

Annabelle continued her thrill seeking ways with a go on a parachute drop ride in the morning, and later in the day also went on the Crusher Coaster.

Tom had a more low-key day compared to Belle, preferring the gentler rides with the Slinky Dog ride and the Flying Carpet being a couple of his faves.

Overall, we have had a great two days here. It has been well worth the visit.Read more

Last day at Disneyland Paris

We had our last day at Disneyland - they have a second park called Walt Disney Studios (similar to California adventure Park in California). They have an avengers section and a Pixar section. There were some very original rides that we’ve never seen in that park which were real fun.

They also did a drone show tonight before the fireworks. I hadn’t seen one of those before, so found it pretty cool

I’m hoping we didn’t wear ourselves out and not have enough energy to now see Paris - just going to have to push through but both of our legs are pretty tired.

Disneyland Paris

Going to Disneyland was frankly part of the trip I was not looking forward to, but Lexi is very into Disney and was excited about the opportunity to see a version of the park in another country, so we went. I will admit I had more fun than I expected, and compared to American amusement parks I’ve been to it was not very crowded and the lines were very reasonable, so that was nice. The park was also very small and it was easy to get done in one day; it felt even smaller than the Disneyland in Anaheim. Nothing felt that different from American Disney except for most of the rides were in a hybrid of English and French. Ultimately this is the Disneyland for all of Europe and so French was not really even the dominant language in the park. I would say we heard more English (mostly British and Irish) and Spanish being spoken by visitors than French, and there was also a lot of German and Italian. Overall I would say Disney is still not really my thing, but I did have fun on some of the rides, although I was very sick of the lines by the end of the day.Read more

Station 2e Walt Disney Studios

Das Highlight des Tages für Mähmi…natürlich die Disney Studios inkl. des Avengers Campus.

Nicht ganz so überfüllt, wie der Disney-Themenpark konnte man diesen Teil des Disneylands relativ zügig durchlaufen.

Unterwegs traf man immer wieder persönlich auf die Helden des Marvel Universums, zum Beispiel Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Thor und Black Widow. Sehr sehr coooool.

Die Achterbahnen und sonstigen Fahrgeschäfte waren wie immer sehr voll und von langen Wartezeiten geprägt. Also haben wir weitestgehend darauf verzichtet.

Ein Besuch im Fahrstuhl des Grauens im „House of Terror/Hollywood Tower Hotel“ sowie eine Fahrt in der Cars-Bahn waren trotzdem drin. Richtig krass und überraschend!

So, jetzt wird’s langsam Zeit für die nächste Pause und vorallem Abendessen.Read more

Der 2. Tag im Disneyland ist angebrochen. Heute waren wir in den Walt Disney Studios. Wir haben viele Shows gesehen und haben 2x an einer Zeichenstunde teilgenommen. Mir hat es gut gefallen. Zwischendurch hat es wieder geregnet und es war super kalt und windig 😬
Irgendwie hatte ich aber die Studios besser in Erinnerung. Es gab dort wenig zu bieten. Die Shows waren eher für kleine Kinder und mit Geschichten die ich nicht kannte und Fahrgeschäfte gab es leider auch wenige.

Abends waren wir wieder im Vapiano essen. ☺️Read more

Disney Day 2 - Efficiency is FUN!

Operation All the Rides - Part 1:
We started early making sure we were near the front of the queue for Magic Hour when only those staying in the Disney hotels (or rich enough to pay for the privilege separately) get and extra hour or so in the parks before the unwashed masses enter and the lines get long (up to 2 hours! in some cases!!). Following some serious detective and planning work by Super Kylz we, though, had a foolproof plan to beat the rush and get the best rides.
We did wonder why everyone was running still though after the gates opened…and the opposite way mostly… 🤔 Turns out Crush the Turtle’s (from Nemo) ride is the most popular in the park…
But that didn’t phase us - we had started strong with a ride that Ariah thought…at the time…was the scariest thing she’d ever do and never looked back!
We dropped from great heights, rode haunted broken elevators, spun around…and around…and around… (🤮 Dad), and had an awesome day.
After a bit of a break, and off-country cultural experience with our first ever visit to a Five Guys, we were back in the park for more rides once the crowds thinned out. However, the best was yet to come!
First we set a new PB on Ariah’s Scariest Ride lost with a trip on Hyperspace Mountain! Let’s just say, unexpectedly going upside down was not voted as best life moment (until the courage set in…see Day 2 for more on this).
Then we finished a long day watching an spectacular lightshow that had all the hits and fireworks!
We were stuffed but went home with big grins on our faces for a good sleep. 😴Read more

Walt Disney Studio Park

Nach einem nassen Start in den zweiten Tag, gab es auch heute eine Menge Highlights zu erleben.
Mit vollem Magen ging’s erstmal auf Studio Tour um dann im Hollywood Tower Hotel in die Twilight Zone abzutauchen.
Vorm Mittagessen im klassischen 50er Jahre Diner haben wir noch die Welt von Ratatouille aus Sicht einer Ratte erlebt.

Frisch gestärkt ging es wieder zurück um den Big Thunder Mountain zu bezwingen und einige gemütliche Fahrgeschäfte zu genießen.
Nach einem Drink im weltberühmten Planet Hollywood ließen wir den Abend beim spektakulären Abschlußfeuerwerk zur Parkschließung ausklingen.

Disneyland is great, but you spend a lot more time in lines than actually on rides (ie 45-60 mins per 1-2 min ride)
Traveler I guess it is worth the wait, as you are having a great experience and making wonderful memories for the kids,

Hier gefällt es uns auch richtig gut.
