Saints Croix du VerdonJuly 3, 2017 in France
We left our France Passion spot and our mate the dog that lived there and headed towards the Gorges of Verdon which will be doing tomorrow. Along the way we stumbled upon this gorgeous little village called Cucuron up on a bit of a hill and stopped for our routine morning cup of coffee and croissant. The cafes were set around a central pond with goldfish (or probably carp) and completely surrounded by wonderfully tall shady trees. It was so lovely we stayed for a second cup before heading further along the glorious drive towards our destination.
The agriculture has changed again as we moved back up into Provence. The vines and grain are still here of course but there were acres and acres of lavender fields and sunflowers. Simply beautiful and so very fragrant.
We climbed higher in the Verdon mountain range and were surprised to see as we rounded a corner the beautiful Lake of Saint Croix. It was a wonderful aqua blue and as the temperature was 32 a walk down the steep hill to the water was in order. It was a lovely temperature. The Aire there was full of motorhomes all out in the baking sun with no shade to sit in so we took a punt on the France Passion site which was a less than 2 km away. What a great choice. It is a lavender farm which is very neat and tidy with an electric gate so we feel very secure. We are under trees and best of all ....they don't sell wine! This time we bought some lavender body lotion and a pretty little framed print.Read more
