    Los geht‘s!

    February 11 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 2 °C

    Travel by train

    September 9, 2019 in Germany ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

Today we had to wake up at 5: 15 a.m to catch our train to Stuttgart but first we had to to take the metro to the train station. The train we had to take in Paris was really easy to find but when we got to Stuttgart all the announcements were in German and our train changed track numbers. Once we were on the train to Zurich everything was fine. Until there was an announcement that said that trains final stop was going to be Singen even though we were still 40 minutes away from Zurich. So we and some of the passengers got on another train from a different train company in the end we got to Zurich.

When we got to Zurich, we went to the oldest candy shop in Zurich and we bought some chocolate. The candy store has been open since 1836. Then we walked around a bit and saw around 30-40 swans and we saw 8 swans, some pigeons and seagulls just siting on a thing near the water.

Next we went to Grossmunster church, which is 900 years old. The church was built in 1130 and was finished in 1230. Then we climbed a tower that had 187 narrow steps and some very low ceilings. When we got to the top of the tower there were 4 little balconies that gave us a different view and perspective of Zurich. We climbed down again and went back to the oldest candy shop. Attached to the candy shop was a restaurant where we got hot chocolate that wasn't too sweet, but still very good. The hot chocolate came with a mini plate of whipping cream and there were shavings of chocolate on both the whipping cream and hot chocolate. After finishing our hot chocolate we bought some groceries for dinner and had a relaxing evening in our appartement.

    There is no heaven.

    August 15, 2020 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

... we did the "heaven for Benz lovers".
It started a bit lets say.. awkward.
As, however warned, Nika did not like the fact that I really did drive the old lady up until the main entrance.
Nika does not like to show of.
    But I do.
So this "we do this together tour" became a lonely walk in the dark.
But as things go, in the end....
    So. Now to the museum.
We really liked it, and I think it's worth a visit.
    Except...
I missed the cars I came for. Or even hoped.
    .

It was an exhibition from luxurious and exclusive cars. So I missed the "normal vehicles who made the History of Mercedes Benz .
I lied if I did not see any W123, but only one 300TD in expo Travel. And a coach an coupe on a trailer in "transport"

But not any W110, the type as Lieske or even not one!!! W114/W115 the type who saves their ass.
    ..
Also in the department of "life savers"
Not one ambulance from the type w110 , w115 or w123. A missed goal.. at least for me.
    ..
Anyway. We were right in time, going in the morning, as there was quite a row as we looked outside to our Lieske, who got a visit from two Dutch cars.. a range rover and a defender.
    ..
We stayed for more than 4 hours.
As we left, we thought it would be nice to go to the Television Tower of Stuttgart..
(Something like the first concrete tower in the world??)
Had a coffee and went to the campsite.
Did not want to go into the city, as the.roads are quite crowdy, many traficlights and... hills !!
    .
We did a walk into the neighbourhood were we had diner and came home in fear of a thunderstorm. But it just missed us in a mile.
    Now..
Heading for a place along the Rhine.

    Oil stains on Holy Ground.

    August 14, 2020 in Germany ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

We drove 237km in five hours along German country roads.
Now we arrived at the walhalla for Mercedes Benz car lovers.
We are at the doorstep of the museum.
Tomorrow morning we intend to drive her up until the front entrance...
    Just to show her of.
    She deserves it!
And for sure...she will mark her spot!

    Anreise Salzburg-Strasbourg

    March 21 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

    DST H3 #619

    August 24, 2021 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

My final trail in Stuttgart for this trip. It was an excellent 10 Km trail, with lots of killer up hill stairs. I ended up paralleling many stretches', to avoid just running back to the check, so added a wee bit. Off to airport tomorrow morning . . . for the next adventure.

    The Zoo!

    July 27 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

We went to the Stuttgart zoo which was really big! We didn’t even realize at first and spent an hour just looking at the birds! But it was a very good time as we saw so many interesting ones, even one little bird riding on a bigger one, and even a curlew which I have seen in Australia! Then we walked every path in the place to see every animal from all angles. The best were the bonobos as they were having so much fun and had babies and teens and you could really see their personalities. The octopus also stole the show by being right up my the glass. A good final day out and about.Read more

    Dienstag Schnitzeljagd Trupp H3 #664

    July 5 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Well fellow DST Hashers, it has been 10 years since I last posted the trail details . . . but Dutchy has managed to dump the burden back on my shoulders this week . . . so here goes.

Cunning Linguist was our hare for the day, and he did not have the common damn courtesy to show up on time. 😊 As 17 hashers anxiously gathered, we had to wait an additional 8 minutes while our hare ate an ice cream cone, or some such silliness, while we all waited. Once finally on trail, we had a totally enjoyable 8+ kms of joy.

For those reading this jumble of hash droppings, if you have never hashed outside of Germany, or Central Europe for that matter, you may not realize how good you have it. This trail was a perfect example of why hashing in Stuttgart is some of the best hashing worldwide. All the twists and turns, the dirt tracks, and tiny paths between properties, and all that goes with it, was purely magical. But most of us are still wondering what the hell was that X (false trail) set, shortly after the reported hare sighting? A scared hare making every attempt to not be caught? A scared hare running for his life? Or a simple ooops, WTF did I just do? Only CL can tell us the tale. And this ties into the delusions of grandeur of one hasher who’s name will remain anonymous, who claimed to have CAUGHT THE HARE, yet it was only a sighting . . . just like those old fishing yarns about “the one that got away” . . . seeing the hare is NOT snaring the hare. Anyway, in the end, we all eventually made it back to the parking garage, and then on to the On On On . . . for some most excellent Asian Cuisine. A great day on trail, and a great day with good friends.

We had three FIVERS on this trail . . . Too Wet with 15, Hold My Weiner with 30, and the big winner today was 10-R Bleibt with 90. Get a fricking life already.

We then had a review of this coming week of hash events, the RED DRESS RUN on Thursday, the thing-a-ma-jig going on this weekend, could be German Nash Hash or some such nonsense, and some boat ride next Monday . . . BORING. The next DST hash will be the next big event (although there is some little kerfuffle about the numbering . . . 665 or 666a [the real 666 is on 19 July]), so keep your eyes peeled to the website or this email list for the details. GET SOME!!!

On On, from your humble hash scribe,
    Hazukashii
