Day 65b. Lake Constance, GermanyOctober 8, 2019 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C
We cycled to Pfahlbauten in Unteruhldingen. This Lake Dwelling Museum is located directly on Lake Constance. The archaeological museum, opened in 1922, shows reconstructions of pile dwellings from the Stone and Bronze Ages. The dwellings and artifacts date back to 3500 BC.
The Bronze Age village that existed before Unteruhldingen originally consisted of 80 houses. On an area of 400 m² we saw 27 figures with their prehistoric equipment, giving insights into the areas of living, crafts, cult and religion as well as environment and animals.
We then cycled back to Meersburg to catch the ferry across the lake to Constance. After a short time trying to find a hotel by cycling about we resorted to modern tech and googled nearby hotels. We found the B&B Hotel and booked a night. We had dinner in a near by Chinese restaurant and both had duck and beer. Perfect end to a great day.Read more
