    Sulzemoos & Ade's departure

    October 5, 2016 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

Ade's last day dawned cold, grey and wet. The plan had been for him to sleep in the tent this last week but with night temperatures falling below 10°C we'd rigged up the 'back breaking' table bed in the van.

After we'd cancelled and reordered cards to replace those taken in Vicky's wallet, we emptied and filled the van and headed out of Munich. The campsite had been amazingly 'unrowdy' for a festival campsite but its 1500 places were nearly all empty now as workers packed it up.

We found a town relatively close to the airport and took a wander around. Ade hadn't yet experienced the German speciality of 'kaffee und kuchen' so we found a local cafe and warmed up over coffee and cake, including the German favourite of apple crumble cake.

We arrived early at the airport 'just in case' and so had time to explore a little before Ade left. The airport is massive, so much so that it contained a wave machine with young surfers riding the wave. It was surreal but entertained us for a little while.

Sadly we said our goodbyes to Ade. We'd had a fabulous week with him and are very grateful to him for coming out to visit us. Travelling brings us amazing experiences but it would be so much more difficult without the support and contact we have with family and friends.

Heading west out of Munich we'd planned to spend the night at a motorway restplace but being after 7pm they were packed full with lorries. Instead, we got off the motorway and parked up at a stopover outside a camper van shop about 50km away.
