Trekking: ImerovigliSeptember 10, 2020 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C
Today is one of the most awaited days of our holiday: we will go on a trekking from Firá to Oía, thus covering on foot half of the perimeter of Santorini's Caldera!
As advised both by Pavlos and our friends who came here in the past, we plan to leave early and Ludo even walks down to the reception to pick up our breakfast before 9am. However, something must have gone wrong between the moment he proudly shows up holding the breakfast tray in his hands and when we actually go out... Because when we finally hit the track the sun is very high and our watch marks Midday! 🙈
Aware of the fact that we will be facing a three-hour walk under the Greek sun during the hottest hours, we enthusiastically start walking uphill until we reach the town of Imerovigli, perched on the highest point of the Caldera and offering an amazing view of the whole island of Santorini as well as of Thirasia and the Nea Kameni volcano. The most striking element is once again the deep blue colour of the sea... I'll never get used to this! 😍
Ten minutes after starting the trekking, we already seek shelter from the sun in a cute (and cool) church under the pretext of cultural interest. And now we are energised for the rest of the walk. OK, let´s say for the next ten minutes... 🥵🤦♀️Read more
