Arrived in Munich via Doha. Snow on the Austrian alps and -40 C outside. Driven to Passau by hosts in pm then into recovery mode for the evening.

    Shopping and bike delay

    May 3, 2019 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

Went to Austria this morning to fill up Philipp’s car with diesel (20c cheaper there).
Toured the city, shops, power plant (50MW) and locks on the Danube, side by side.
Then to the bike dealer (100km away) but the bike was not ready - found a clutch problem on their test ride so new clutch going in tomorrow morning after it arrives overnight.Read more

    Autobahns

    May 4, 2019 in Germany ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

Picked up the bike then both car and bike to Munich to pick up Jill at the airport.
A few light showers then back to Passau.
Cars zip past even when you are doing 140 mph.

Dream about to come true, Ian. Bike around Europe begins.

    Passau Bierfest

    May 5, 2019 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 5 °C

Quick tour of Passau and St Stephens (The Dome) with the 3rd biggest organ in the world. Makes me feel insignificant. Then a meal, send off for Phillip family afternoon tea then packing.

    Cesky Krumlov

    May 6, 2019 in Czech Republic ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

Rode through light snow successfully. Directions from the bike’s speakers (ex Jill’s phone map app) brilliant.

    Robyn Smith

We loved our two days in Czesky Krumlov, a town with such a good vibe and very happy to ply its food and wares to its tourists. Keep biking. Kutna Hora next?

    Prague

    May 7, 2019 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 8 °C

Good beer, pork, coffee and cakes. Plenty of tourists too.

    Robyn Smith

We had that too. Glad Spring has sprung for you.

That’s the thing about Europe; the weather limits roadworks to either side of winter and the serious delays and concertina traffic flow is frustrating indeed. But leaves plenty of time for scenery watching

    Pilsen to Rosenheim

    May 10, 2019 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

Time to do some kilometres before it rains. However we did have a few showers going through a national park and forests. Took a long cut from the cafe in Zwiesel. Too busy to take photos.
I do know why they drive on the right in Europe - so motorcycle riders can acknowledge each other with the left hand meaning the throttle is uneffected.Read more

Good travelling. I remember Rosenheim from 1988 and thinking how Bavarian! How young was I! What else could it be! Now you’re in a thermal baths area you may like to consider a day at one. We loved Our time in Baden Baden and there are many others both new and old.

    To Torbole

    May 11, 2019 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Germany to the Austria border and up the mountains and down again into Italy. Relatively steep and long descent at 110kph. Dangerous. Corten steel type barriers. Jill found this lake village - wonderful. A few short showers.Read more

    Mothers Day

    May 12, 2019 in Italy ⋅ 🌧 6 °C

Rode alongside the lake at 50kph mostly through the very picturesque and tourist populated east side of the lake - Lago de Guarda. Then to Asti to sleep.

    Robyn Smith

A tour de force. Where to next? Are there many fellow bikies?

To the land of perfume behind Nice. A bit cool for bikes to date but there were quite a few today Sunday.
