      Mandu, Stadt der Freude

      Ich bin jetzt in einer wirklich kleinen Stadt, aber mit ganz besonderem Charme.
      Vor meinem Hostel laufen Kälber und Ziegen herum. Keine Strasse, kein Gehupe, kein Stress ..
      Hier spricht niemand Englisch und hier ist das Aufsehen noch größer, wenn ich durch den Ort laufe. Es ist gemütlicher und total grün.

      Mandu, Mandu

      Ich habe zuletzt den Königspalast angeschaut. Das war der Schönste von allen.
      Als dort noch ein König wohnte, lebten mit ihm bis zu 15.000 Haremsdamen.
      Ich dachte, ich hätte mich verhört.
      Der König konnte sich bis zu seinem Lebensende täglich eine andere Frau aussuchen.
      Ich habe mir vorhin eine indische Kurti gekauft. Wollte mir ein Sari nähen lassen, aber das ziehe ich ja nie wieder an.
      Dann kam ich genau passend zur Puja.
      Die nächsten 17 Tage wird noch intensiver gebetet, um die Seelen der Schwestern und Brüder zurückzuholen.
      In einer Schale wird trockener Kuhdung mit Butter entzündet. Das brennt passend für die Zeremonie.
      Danach durfte ich mit essen.
      Die Kinder essen immer auf dem Boden.
      Ich wollte mich auch auf den Boden setzen, sollte aber auf einem Stuhl sitzen.
      Die Kinder bekamen nur Reis, ich bekam Thali. Das war mir peinlich.

      Life in Pushkar

      Ich werde jeden Morgen um halb sechs von dem Getrommel und den Gebeten wach.
      Eine schöne Art aufzuwachen.:-)
      Ich mag es!
      Heute habe ich mir Porridge mit ganz viel Obst im Hotel gegönnt, da meine Hand noch weh tat. Während des Frühstücks konnte ich schon die ersten Waschungen beobachten.
      Ich habe mich heute einfach treiben lassen und das Geschehen beobachtet.

      Kamasutra Temple and Chitrakoot

      The from westerners called Kamasutra Temples of Khajuraho are an amazing group of Hindu temples with very detailed little statues. The most famous one shows sexual intercourse in a wide range of positions.

      Later on, in the small town of Chitrakoot we did like the locals and made a pilgrimage clockwise around a holy mountain. Arriving at this place we where received like superstars. This time we not only had to take lot of photos, even a TV channel wanted a short interview with us :)      Read more

      Day 21

      Tadoba Andhari NP to Pench NP

      A leisurely start this morning with breakfast at 8 having already packed.

      The journey was a distance of 180 miles and was due to take around 5 hours. We retraced our steps from Waghoba to Nagpur and then circuited the city and continued to head north. The landscape started to charge and we began climbing the hills with Pench national park on our left. After about 30 minutes of a windy dual carriageway we turned off the road for a final 30 minutes on more local roads and arrived at the lodge at around 1.30pm.

      The lodge is set into 40 acres of land and the accommodation is well spread out and discretely built. We have a tree house with a lovely balcony in the forest canopy. The whole thing moves slightly when you move around but it's got all mod cons including air conditioning (which we don't need) and hot water!

      There was nothing planned for the afternoon and so we spent it relaxing in the bar area and eating.... first lunch and then dinner after watching a BBC documentary filmed in Pench. We headed back to the room at about 10 to find the staff had been in again and left the heater on (it's much cooler here at night) and hot water bottles in the bed! Another early start tomorrow.       Day 22

      Pench national park

      After a 5.30am alarm call be met our guide, Shiv, at reception at 6am for coffee before leaving to drive the 20 minutes to the park gate. It was still dark, although the almost full moon gave lots of light, and very very cold. Fortunately here, along with blankets, they also gave us hot water bottles for the journey!

      The park opens at 6.45am and we were at the gate ready to go in at that time.

      We drove into the park and were soon on the trail of a tiger. First we saw some fresh pug marks and then Shiv also spotted a fresh scent mark on a tree that the tiger had left. We got our hopes up and after some tooing and froing we spotted a female tiger crossing the road. We kept on her trail and managed to spot her again some time later and watch her for about 5 minutes as she walked through the undergrowth and then crossed another track.

      Time flies when you're having fun and so we then headed to a spot for breakfast where we could get off the vehicle. The breakfast was spread out on a table that folded out from the bonnet and was delicious. Thankfully it had now started to warm up!

      During the drive we also saw xxxxxxx.

      After breakfast we drove the long road back to the park gate and then back to the hotel.

      We went back to her room and had a coffee on the balcony before heading over to the restaurant at 1:00 p.m. for lunch which has usual was an Indian selection of various dishes including chicken, salad, dahl, etc

      Our afternoon safari started at 2:30 and we drove the 20 minutes to the gate and spent the afternoon trying to find the elusive, tigers and leopards sadly without success on this occasion. However, we did see a number of new birds, a crocodile and a golden jackal.

      It was getting dark when we arrived back at the lodge and after a coffee we headed to the room to get clean and changed ready for dinner.

      We watched the last part of the documentary on the tigers of Pench national park before dinner tonight and then headed for dinner, inside tonight thankfully! After another massive meal we headed back to the room and promptly fell asleep!      Read more

      11 Stunden im Sleeperbus...

      Mir tut jeder Knochen weh. Der Bus ist über Land gefahren. Ich wusste nicht, dass es so grosse Schlaglöcher in Folge gibt. Nach einer Stunde dachte ich, das halte ich nicht länger aus. Ich muss aussteigen. Ich würde in meiner Kabine hin und her geschleudert.
      Mehrere Male war ich in der Luft. Ich habe echt geschrien. Irgendwann war es nicht mehr ganz so furchtbar. Jetzt sitze ich anderen Bus, auf dem Weg nach Mandu.

      Ich mag Mandu!

      Ich habe fast 10 Stunden geschlafen. Es geht mir besser. Ich war im Dorf und wollte Klopapier und Taschentücher kaufen. Keine Chance, ich war locker in 10 Shops. Jetzt habe ich harte weisse Servietten...besser als nichts.
      Ich fragte, wo ich meine Wäsche abgeben kann zum Waschen....Niemand im Dorf hat eine Waschmaschine. Die liebste und einzigste Angestellte hier hat meine Wäsche von Hand gewaschen. Ein heiliger Mann hat einen Angestellten gefragt, wie ich heiße und wo ich herkomme. Er sagte, dich haben die Götter gesandt.:-).
      Ich wollte heute alles im Umkreis von Mandu anschauen ohne Guide, aber das war kaum möglich. So hatte ich heute mal ein Guide auf dem Motorrad. Ich liebe das bei Wärme Motorrad ohne Helm zu fahren.
      Um fünf holt mich Madesch noch mal ab, wenn es kühler ist.
      In einem Tempel war eine wunderbare Schallübertragung. Die Prinzessin hat dort für den König gesungen.

      Holi lake and blake moon

      Die Pilger sind heute morgen schon um fünf Uhr in den heiligen See abgetaucht.
      Ich weiss garnicht, ob ich überhaupt geschlafen habe.
      Da heute Nacht Vollmond und schwarzer Mond zu sehen war, haben sie die ganze Nacht gefeiert.
      Ich war um sechs Uhr am See.
      Ich dachte, bevor ich Pushkar heute verlasse, möchte ich als Abschluss in diesen heiligen See steigen.
      Es war wirklich ein bisschen magisch.
      Ich stand bis zu den Oberschenkel im See, bespritze meine Arme und mein Kopf mit Wasser.
      Überall brannten Kerzen, Frauen sangen, beteten oder badeten.
      Ich schloss die Augen, stand im heiligen See und betete ausnahmsweise mal nur für mich!      Read more

      Orcha

      Orcha è una bellissima città, con dei templi e dei palazzi stupendi. È ancora una città poco turistica, ma che vale la pena di visitare.
      I palazzi hanno degli affreschi bellissimi e le costruzioni sono anche molto affascinanti.
      I templi sono anche molto speciali, mi ha affascianto molto il tempio Ram Raja, dove i fedeli pregano molto intensamente. Era bellissimo vedere la loro cultura e la loro devozione per gli dei.

      Orcha is a beautiful city, with some stunning temples and buildings. It is still a little touristy city, but it is worth visiting.
      The palaces have beautiful frescoes and the buildings are also very fascinating.
