      Zweiter und letzter Tag in Jaipur

      Auf die Hektik einer indischen Stadt haben wir auch am zweiten Tag in Jaipur keine Lust, weshalb wir wieder etwas raus fahren. Wir starten mit der kleinen Wanderung "Hathni Kund". Von der Wanderung haben wir zwar mehr erwartet, aber immerhin ist es hier schön ruhig. Danach besichtigen wir noch das Nahargarh Fort und Jaigarh Fort, die sich hier in der Nähe befinden. Zweiters ist die Verteidigungsfestung des Palastes Amber Fort.
      Den Rest des Tages - inzwischen ist es auch schon nach 3 - entspannen wir auf der schönen Dachterrasse unseres Hostels der Hostelkette Moustache.

      Abgesehen von der Albert Hall haben wir von der geschichtsträchtigen Rosaroten Stadt, deren Basar zu den lebendigsten Handelsplätzen in ganz Asien zählt, leider nichts besichtigt. Wir waren einfach nicht in der Stimmung für so viel Trubel und Gewusel. Das nächste Mal dann, denn Jaipur ist berühmt für verschiedene Handwerkskunst, wie Handdrucke, Batiken, Patchwork, Stickereien und blaue Keramiken.      Read more

      More beautiful architecture

      Amber Fort was another example for some "who has time for that?!" architecture. The amazing thought and detail that goes into the buildings is amazing. We had a blast.

      Its totally different being in tourist places now though. White people everywhere and much less people asking for pictures. Ofcourse we had that in Agra too but still. Its funny how different Lucknow is to all the other cities we have visited. Still no regrets about going there, was pretty cool too

      Wonderful Jaipur

      Today was Jaipur exploring day! Last night we arranged a full day trip with some guy we met on the street and his brother with a tuktuk was waiting for us in front of our hostel. How do you fit 5 people in a tuktuk? 🤣
      First we wanted to go see Hawa Mahal, the famous palace in center of Jaipur but had to skip it st the time because of protests and head for q quick stop to Royal Gator, basically a royal tombs. Lovely place even though it has a sad meaning. Next up: Amber Fort. Oh what a fort that is! Huge palace, tons of rooms, yards, gardens, loooong walls ... this was abandoned after british conquered India. Since it was Sunday lots of tourists were there but it didn’t bother us much. It was awesome getting lost around the palace. I was daydreaming how this place must have looked like when it was full of life, kings, ... We easily spent 2 hours exploring mirror rooms, garden, towers, ... Me and Matjaž went on to a military fort on the hill even further above the palace. Old cannons and amazing view of the palace, Jaipur and surrounding area. Hot day but well worth it!
      Wheh we finished with the whole fort we went on to Amber (old Jaipur) for Stepwell, a huge water tank they used back in the days. We could only make photos from above, but the best part were monkeys! So lovely and lots of them!
      We noted some temples next to it so me and Matjaž went exploring and hit a jackpot - the temple was the oldest building in the area, officially 1100 years old but some manuscripts mention it was over 2500 years old! We were told it was by god Krishna, one of rarest temples where you go downstairs. It looked amazing!
      We headed back to town, saw a palace on the lake and then finally- Hawa Mahal, the famous Jaipur place with all the windows and all. So beautiful! We took our photos and moved on to dinner. Yumm - dal with garlic naan (yes, again).
      Some chats ib rooftop on hostel and now I’m about to go to sleep, more exploding tomorrow and then - Pushkar. Good night 💤      Read more

      Amber Fort

      Bereits im Jahre 1592 begann der Bau der mächtigen Festung auf einem Bergkamm des Aravalli-Gebirges, nur 10 Kilometer vom heutigen Jaipur entfernt.Vom Grundriss her ist Amber Fort rechteckig und wird neben zahlreichen Pavillons und Gebäuden von Treppen, Innenhöfen und kunstvoll gestalteten Arkaden dominiert. Ein weiteres Kennzeichen von Amber Fort sind sehr aufwendig gestaltete Fassaden und viele Balkone. Die Gebäude wurden dabei aus Sandstein und Mamor erbaut, wodurch sich in Kombination mit den vielen Ausschmückungen eine ganz besondere Optik ergibt. Doch Amber Fort hält einen glänzenden Höhepunkt in dem ohnehin schon sehr reizvoll gestalteten Gebäude bereit: Der prächtige Spiegelsaal von Amber Fort! Zusätzlich gibt es Pavillons, Tempel und eine prachtvolle Audienzhalle. Amber Fort besitzt viele außergewöhnliche Ecken.

      Wir sind mit einem Geländewagen zum Fort und auch wieder zurück gefahren. Die Alternative dazu sind Elefanten.      Read more

      Amber Fort & Palace

      Amer Fort or Amber Fort is a fort located in Amer, Rajasthan, India. Until 1727, when Maharaja Raja Jai Singh shifted the capital to Jaipur, Amer had been the capital of the Rajput Empire.

      Amazed by the art of craftsmanship Amer Palce belongs definitely to one of my personal Highlights so far. Whether wall paintings, frescoes in natural colors, mosaics or carvings in marble and sandstone, whether mosaics, everything testifies to the high level of craftsmanship of the artisans, but also to the wealth of the Maharajas. While Europe was in the throes of religious wars and wars over the distribution of political power, the Maharanis relied on cleverly arranged marriages and were able to increase their wealth by trading in gold, silver and spices and investing in the arts. A cleverly arranged marriage prevents 8 wars

      11 km far from Jaipur (in a little tow named Amer), embedded in a soft hill range on the highest point, Amber or Amer fort it is one of the the principal tourist attractions in Rajasthan.

      Amer Fort is known for its artistic style elements and Amer Palace is great example of Rajput architecture. Some of its buildings and work have influence of Mughal architecture. Constructed of red sandstone and marble, the attractive, opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard.

      It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas, or "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace.

      The palace was the residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families. At the entrance to the palace near the fort's Ganesh Gate, there is a temple dedicated to Shila Devi, a Goddess of the Chaitanya cult, which was given to Raja Man Singh when he defeated the Raja of Jessore, Bengal in 1604. (Jessore is now in Bangladesh).Raja Man Singh had 12 queens so he made 12 rooms, one for each Queen. Each room had a staircase connected to the King’s room but the Queens were not to go upstairs. Raja Jai Singh had only one queen so he built one room equal to three old queen’s rooms.

      Since 2013 Amer Fort, along with five other forts of Rajasthan, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan.      Read more

      Last day in Jaipur today! The last couple of days were spent resting as Mike recovered from a bit of Delhi Belly, so today we finally went to visit Jaipur's most famous attraction: Amer Fort. We took a tuktuk 20min north of Jaipur City and stopped into Panna Meena Ka Kund - a famous stepwell built in the 16th century. We stopped for a chat with a local guru, some photos, and to admire the longest tail we'd ever seen on a monkey. After the stepwell, we walked up to Amer Fort and spent a couple of hours wandering the former residence of the Rajput Maharajas.Read more

      באר המדרגות או באנגלית Panna Meena ka Kund.

      כיום, רוב המטיילים המבקרים בג'ייפור מגיעים לראות את מבצר אמבר המפורסם. אבל רבים אינם מודעים לכך שממש ליד הטירה המאסיבית שוכנת באר מדרגות בצבע צהוב, שנבנתה במאה ה-16.

      באר המדרגות בנוייה בצורת ריבוע, עם מדרגות צמודות מכל ארבעת הצדדים וחדר בקיר הצפוני.
      ההערכה היא שהחדר הזה שימש לטקסים דתיים לפני חתונות או בתאריכי פסטיבל פופולריים.
      באר המדרגות נבנתה כדי שתושבי העיר יוכלו לאסוף מים, ששימשו מאוחר יותר במקדשים רבים בקרבת מקום. נשים הגיעו לכאן גם כדי למלא את סירי המים שלהן לעבודות בית.

      Am zweiten Tag in Jaipur schauen wir uns das Jaigrah Fort, das Amber Fort und den Hawa Mahal an.
      Im Jaigrah Fort steht die größte Kanone der Welt und auch der Ausblick vom Fort ist recht schön. Das Fort ist umgeben von einer langen Mauer, die etwas an die chinesische Mauer erinnert.
      Vom Jaigrah Fort kann man das Amber Fort fußläufig erreichen. Den Amber Palace, der zum Fort gehört sparen wir uns (geld- und zeittechnisch), wir können auch so schon genug sehen.
      Mit dem Bus gehts dann wieder zurück in den Stadtteil Pink City und zum Herzstück Jaipurs: dem Hawa Mahal oder auch Palast der Winde.
      Es ist im Gegensatz zum City Palast ein recht kleiner Palast aber von seiner Architektonik und Bautechnik nicht weniger sehenswert.
      Viele Touristen und Einheimische tummeln sich hier. Während die Touristen aber eher von der Umgebung und vom Palast Fotos machen sind die Inder eher an uns Weißen interssiert. Super viele fragen nach einem gemeinsamen Selfie. Wir sollten dafür mal Geld verlangen, würden wir bestimmt ein Tagesbudget zusammenbekommen :). Die Fotos zeigen die Inder dann stolz ihren Freunden und Familien: “meine zwei weißen Freunde“. Wer weiß vielleicht entsteht aus den Fotos ja auch eine Art Sammelheft und es gibt eine Competition wer mehr Fotos mit Weißen hat :)
      Abends essen wir dann noch typisch jaipurisches Essen: Bhati (kleine Brotbällchen) und Dhal (Curry mit Linsen)      Read more

      Wir hatten heute keine Zeit zum Kühe zählen. Wir waren die ganze Zeit am schnattern und ratschen, aber es waren definitiv viele und manche auch direkt auf der Straße. Eine davon lief dankenswerterweise direkt plastikkauend auf das Auto zu.

      Zufälligerweise kamen wir auch gerade die Straße entlang, als die Elefanten, mit denen man auf das Amber Fort 'reiten' kann, Feierabend gemacht haben.      Read more
