    January 31 in Indonesia

    De koninklijke tempel van Mengwi. Ieder huis heeft hier zijn eigen tempeltje. Daarnaast zijn er tempels voor gemeenschappelijk gebruik. Zo ook de koninklijke tempel van Mengwi. Koninklijk omdat deze geen twee maar drie ingangen heeft, met een kroon boven de middelste ingang. De traptreden zijn hoog, want wie contact met het hemelse wil hebben moet daar wat moeite voor doen.

    Taman Ayun Temple in the village of Mengwi, Badung Regency, Bali

    Taman = Garden
    Ayun = beauty

    This temple was built in the 16th century, a great place to see early traditional Balinese architecture.

    Statues of Lion symbol can be seen often at the entrance and corners of the building. People in Mengwi village have ceremonies in this temple.

    Tajen is held a few hours before the ceremony. Tajen is Balinese gambling of cock fighting.

    Traditional Balinese architecture used organic materials. The dark roofs were made using dried coconut leaves.

    Religion in Bali is 90% Hindu and 10% Christian, Muslin and others. When you travel through these villages, you would see thousands of them. To me, Bali is an island of temples!

    峇里島簡直就是寺廟島,大的廟約有1000座,小的廟則無法計算,因為即時是在稻田邊如小冰箱大的供奉台,他們也稱作 temple,若將此計算進去,那估算寺廟總數可能超過百萬!
