Karangjalak

Sunyaragi is a place of meditation in the city of Cirebon in Indonesia , built in the 27th  century by a sultan. It is located about 4  km from the city center.

The name "Sunyaragi" is a metathesis of sunyi , which means "silent" in Javanese , and raga , which means "attraction", "color" or "passion" in Sanskrit . "Sunyaragi" therefore means "silent in his passions".

The place consists of a series of artificial caves intended for meditation. Two caves are of particular importance. One is oriented towards Mecca , since the sultans of Cirebon want to be descendants of  Sunan Gunung Jati , one of the Wali Sanga , the nine propagators of Islam in Java according to tradition. 

The other is oriented towards China, since tradition also wants Gunung Jati to be Chinese .Read more
