      Nous retrouvons Hossein, un chauffeur trop sympa qui va nous emmener visiter la ville souterraine de Nushabad et le mausolée de Hilal bin Ali, avant d'aller dans le désert. On y va en mode plouc : nous on se trimballe dans une vieille Saipa alors que des énormes 4x4 rutilants nous dépassent à fond la caisse. Des dromadaires se grattent tranquillement sur les panneaux installés au bord de la route. On prend des photos rigolotes dans le désert de sel et on grimpe sur une dune pour voir le coucher du soleil.

      Un groupe de touristes français est également là, et on se marre en les écoutant râler "Ah non mais là c'est carrément décevant" (WTFFFF?). Bon, comme on est dans la voiture option boloss on se retrouve ensablés et en plus le circuit de refroidissement est mort. Mais Hossein trouve un de ses amis avec un 4x4 qui va nous tracter sur les 60 km du retour. Tiens, c'est le chauffeur des français ! Bon, du coup on fait profil bas. La route est un peu compliquée : la voiture chasse sur les côtés dans les passages sablonneux, la corde casse, et comme elle s'est emmêlée autour de l'essieu il faut démonter puis remonter la roue... 🙃 Mais Hossein se marre, il bidouille tout ça, danse en faisant de nouveaux noeuds dans la corde et on est repartis.       Kaschan

      Die 3.5 Stunden im Zug in die Wüstenstadt Kaschan vergehen dank bester Unterhaltung in unserem Abteil wie im Flug. Kaschan mit seinen etwa 600’000 Einwohnern liegt am Rande der Maranjab Wüste und ist vor allem für seine historischen Häuser im Stadtzentrum bekannt. In einem dieser traditionellen Häusern nächtigen auch wir für 3 Nächte. Neben der schönen Altstadt mit einigen Moschees besichtigen wir in einem Tagestripp das Rote Dorf Abyaneh, welches aus typisch roten Lehmziegelhäusern besteht. Wie bei allen Sehenswürdigkeiten im Iran darf der Tourist Eintritt bezahlen (auch für natürliche Orte wie Berge, Wüsten oder Dörfer). Zwar sind es meist nur 3, 4 CHF (Einheimische Touristen bezahlen einen Bruchteil davon), doch für hiesige Verhältnisse ist das doch ganz schön viel Geld und es summiert sich dann schon. Eintritt bezahlen wir am Folgetag auch für die Maranjab Wüste und den Salzsee, was aber jeden Rappen wert gewesen ist. So verbringen wir den Sonnenuntergang inmitten der Sanddünen fernab jeglicher Zivilisation. Patty als kleiner Wüstenfuchs fühlt sich besonders wohl und tobt sich im Sand aus, wie früher im heimischen Sandkasten. 🦊🤸🏻‍♀️Read more

      Kashan

      Die Straße nach Kashan führt direkt an einem Flughafen vorbei. Es ist eine öffentliche Straße und es gäbe nur die Alternative über die Autobahn zu fahren. Ich hatte das Gelände fast passiert, da überholt mich ein Pickup und macht vor mir eine Vollbremsung neben der Straße. Drei Männer springen aus dem Fahrzeug und stoppen mich. Einer ist etwas älter und trägt eine andere Uniform. Äußerlich der Typ, mit dem nicht zu spaßen ist.
      Das ist Militärgebiet, sagt einer in gutem Englisch und ich darf die Straße nicht befahren. Ich muss ihnen folgen.
      Es geht zurück zur Flughafeneinfahrt. So kommt man also mit diesen Leuten in Kontakt, dachte ich mir noch. Aber zum Glück musste ich meine Sachen nicht auf den Pickup laden. An der Einfahrt kommt mir der gut englisch sprechende Soldat entgegen und sagt ich solle mitkommen und freundlich auf die Fragen antworten, die mir gestellt werden. Das Gespräch fand dann aber zu meiner Erleichterung draußen statt und ich lief zu meiner Höchstform in Sachen Freundlichkeit auf und war voll des Lobes über den Iran.
      Es wurde noch u.a. gefragt, ob ich Fotos gemacht hatte. Meine Kamera bzw. Handy wurde nicht kontrolliert. Auch der Pass nicht. Wahrscheinlich war ich sehr überzeugend mit dem was ich sagte. Beiläufig habe ich noch gefragt, was ich in Kashan anschauen kann und hatte gleich die Möglichkeit mich auch noch über diese Antwort zu bedanken. Schließlich fragte ich noch, wie ich nun nach Kashan fahren kann. Mir wurde die Straße empfohlen, welche ich vorher nicht fahren durfte. Habe schon zur Genüge von solchen oder ähnlichen Geschichten gehört und wie sie ausgehen können.
      In Kashan angekommen, suchte ich mir eine Unterkunft und laufe noch etwas durch die Stadt. Morgen bleibe ich einen Tag hier.      Read more

      Auf nach Kaschan

      Also nachm Wachwerden erstmal das Moped verarztet. Offensichtlich darf ich in den nächsten Tagen auch noch die zweite Seite der Gabel abdichten 😅 Danach gings heute nach Kaschan. Da wars zu heiß und wir haben alle erstmal im Hostel ne runde gepennt. Danach mal ein wenig die Stadt erkundet und morgen weiter nach Qom.
      Und wir haben nen Supermarkt mit Westprodukten gefunden, natürlich teuer aber der Blick sagt alles 😂
      Ich bin übrigens am überlegen weiter zu fahren. Also auf lange sicht. Wir suchen durchgehend eine Möglichkeit nach Kasachstan zu kommen. Der Däne überlegt hoch zu fahren und ein paar seiner freunde warten schon länger auf die öffnung von Aserbaidschan. Dann würde es für mich allerdings allein weiter gehen...      Read more

      Besichtigungen in Kashan

      Am Morgen beim Frühstück treffe ich Aliona aus Littauen die in Irland lebt. Sie ist 3 Wochen im Iran unterwegs und hat ein Taxi für eine Rundfahrt organisiert. Sie fragt, ob ich Lust habe mitzukommen und wir starten gleich 10 Minuten später nach Nooshabad. Dort schauen wir das Castle und die unterirdische Stadt an. Weiter zum Grab des Sohrab Sepehri, einer Pilgerstädte und weiter zur Chal Nakhjir Höhle. Ist sehr schön, aber leider darf man dort keine Fotos machen. Wieder zurück nach Kashan zum Fin Garden. Wunderschön. Am Nachmittag noch das Borujerdi Haus und das Sultan Amir Ahmad Badehaus besichtigt. Später noch eine Moschee mit einem Schrein angeschaut. Es gäbe hier noch einiges zu besichtigen und anzuschauen. Ich könnte auch noch etwas hier bleiben, aber ich bin voll von Eindrücken und voll von alldem, was ich die letzten Tage, Wochen und Monate gesehen habe. Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl, ich brauche einfach mal Zeit um auszuruhen und nichts zu machen. In Teheran werde ich einige Tage Leerlauf haben , wenn ich auf mein Türkmenistanvisum warte, welches ich hoffentlich bekommen werde. Morgen weiter nach Ghom.Read more

      Kashan historische stad

      Kashan is een oude, zeer religieuze stad. Ik zie hier dan ook direct meer volledig bedekte vrouwen in zwarte gewaden lopen. We hebben een paar oude huizen bezocht en een moskee met school. We hebben ook een bazaar bezocht, deze was een stuk overzichtelijker dan die in Tehran en Esfahan. Natuurlijk konden we niet zonder wat thee.

      Terwijl wij hier waren, kwamen er steeds meer mensen in opstand tegen de dood van Koerdische Mahsa Amini. We zagen eerder al veel politie op straat en nu werkt het internet ook niet meer. We denken dat dit nog eens voor een flinke opschudding kan zorgen in het land. Maar goed dat ik morgen wegga. Ik wil niet in Iran zijn wanneer er protesten bezig zijn. Dan hoef ik maar op de verkeerde plek te zijn en word ik opgepakt om vervolgens nooit meer vrij te komen. Dit is al gebeurd met verschillende buitenlanders.      Read more

      Persian gardens and traditional houses

      Our second day in Kashan was fantastic, too! We met two Spanish guys we got to know in the hostel in Teheran and went to the beautiful Fin gardens at the outskirts of Kashan. They are a typical example of Persian gardens with fountains and springs, trees and pavilion. While it was nice, it did not strike us as overly impressive. What was really nice, though, was the tea house in the gardens and the rose water/saffron ice cream :-)

      The next stop (after a short rest in the hotel) was much more impressive: the ancient hammam Sultan Amir Ahmad and the traditional house of Abbasi. The hammam is, unfortunately, not in use any longer - as is true for nearly all hammams in Iran - but it’s still a great sight. It features beautiful tiles and painted ceilings. Also, a visit to the roof have us a better understanding of how the vaults are constructed and how the light is let in through small glass inlays in the cupulas.

      The traditional Abbasian house was also mangnificent: >5,000 square meters :-) it took the owner - a rich glass merchant - 20 years to complete. We admired especially the well functioning ventilation system with the lowest levels being really cool and pleasant to stay in.

      Dinner was another highlight: we went to another traditional house turned hotel and restaurant. After watching the sun set from the courtyard, we went into the cellar for a nice dinner.

      Tomorrow we are looking forward to going to Esfahan - one of the top tourist attractions in Iran and certainly also buzzing with Iranian tourists during the ongoing No Ruz celebrations.      Read more

      Desert city Kashan

      In the desert city of Kashan we discovered the beautiful and intelligent ancient architecture of the desert. Centuries before the air condition they built wind catchers that would catch the air, cool it and distribute into the homes. Underground cities were built to protect against enemies and cisterns were kept underground as well to keep water cold… and again we were invited for tea and sweets. 🥰Read more

      Discovering Kashan: mosque, bazaar

      For Anna it was the second morning with yoga in the hostel corridor (after the curtain on the first floor it‘s okay not to wear the veil and behave like being “at home“).

      We then gathered yesterday’s laundry from the roof top and packed our backpacks to get ready for Kashan. Before, we visited the former US embassy which, unfortunately, was closed. So we only looked at the anti-US/Israel propaganda.

      Afterwards we made our way to the southern bus terminal and had no trouble to find a bus to Kashan. In the bus, we met an Iranian who offered to drive us to our hotel. So nice! The hotel is a traditional house with mud walls, very authentic and nice. Also, it is pleasantly cool which helps in Kashan’s desert climate.

      We went out in the late afternoon to visit the Agha Bozork Mosque 🕌. The site was beautiful and we were lucky to start a conversation with Fatima, a 21-year old student from Kashan. She showed us around the mosque (and was not discouraged by a somewhat grumpy and impolite Mullah who corrected her on some rather minor detail). We then walked with her to the bazaar and invited her to drink tea with us in a very nice former hammam-turned-tea house. The owner let us in for free as wanted to “honor the Iranian-German friendship”. 😄

      The tea tasted excellent and was accompanied by a set of cookies, dates, candy sugar and cinnamon. We additionally ordered roasted eggplant spread and the next time we looked at our watch it was already 19:30! Time had flown by so quickly! 🙃 Before saying goodbye to Fatima, we still sneaked up on the roof of the bazaar which was really cool. It is also built with mud and has domes sticking out with small holes in the middle to let some air but no heat into the bazaar alley below...

      As we were not really hungry anyways, we went home, picking up some oranges and apples at a food stall as a dinner substitute 🍊 🍎      Read more
