      Dun Laoghaire… Again!

      September 6, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

We all had some delicious bagels for breakfast and went out for some exercise. Mom and I went down to the West Pier with a few extra stops, and Dad went running to Booterstown. We met just outside the house at the exact same time (ha) and came in for some lunch. The afternoon was very chill before 3 o’clock when Dad left for a Fulbright meeting. Mom and I caught the 4:42 bus (more like 4:55) to the city and walked the rest of the way to my basketball practice. I had a great time and before I knew it, was heading home. Dad made some great spaghetti for dinner and we ended the night with Derry Girls.Read more

      Irish Night Cabaret in Dublin

      September 6, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

What a night in Dublin. We attended a cabaret where Irish traditions were in full display. It was a lot of fun! We were greeted with Irish Whiskey and enjoyed Irish River Dancing, Irish Humour and Singing. I had the beef and Guinness stew for dinner and it was delicious! I know my Irish relatives would be kicking themselves if I had ordered something else while in Dublin. Also had my first Irish Coffee while chuckling away from some corny Irish Jokes.

      Here’s a couple for you:

“There was an 88 year old Irish man that had a baby with a young woman. The man was concerned he was a little old to be having a baby but his friend assured him that he’ll be the perfect father at 88. The man was confused and asked why. The friend responded “You’ll be the perfect father because at 88 you’re up 10 times in the night anyways”

“There was an Irish electrician named Patty that had a close relationship with the Texas senator. The senator asked for Patty’s help because he needed the electric chair fixed for an execution the next day. Patty agreed to help but to the senator’s shock the chair was disassembled when the senator checked up on Patty. He asked Patty “what are you doing?!” Patty responded, “it’s good you brought me in, this thing was a death trap”

“An Irish man gave his doctor a cheque last time he paid him a visit. On his follow up appointment, the doctor complained to the man that his cheque didn’t go through and had come back. The man responded “yes, and so did my arthritis doc”

      Dun Laoghaire… lost count.

      September 7, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Today was my first day of 7th grade! We all got ready for the day together before Dad headed to UCD for a meeting and a workshop. Mom and I began some schoolwork; math, science, etc. We stayed at home until 2 o’clock just doing our work. We then left for the library and a stroll around town. We spent a few hours out until meeting Dad home. All of us went out for ice cream, then Mom made some dinner. The night was closed with the season 1 finale of Only Murders In The Building!Read more

Dun Laoghaire Vol. Way Too Hot!

      September 8, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

A field trip was in store for the three of us today! We all woke up kind of early so we could be ready for the bus around 10 am. After our short ride, we arrived at UCD where Dad showed Mom and I around campus. We got lunch after our tour. Then Mom and I said goodbye and caught the bus to the city center. We walked around before landing at our destination of the cat cafe. For 40 minutes, we just played with kittens which was incredible!! We got some fries and took the insanely hot bus home which wasted about 2 hours of our time. But by the time we made it home, we were hungry again. So we picked up a pizza and had a lovely dinner. Afterwards, I took a shower and my mother cut my hair. We finished the night with both Only Murders In The Building and Derry Girls.Read more

    • Day 26

      Dun Laoghaire last hot day!

      September 9, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

Mom woke up extra early to meet her new running group while Dad and I stayed home. Eventually Dad went out running in the neighborhood and I went shopping for a bit. Dad met me for lunch by the sea where we also ran into Mom who was getting off the DART. We chatted for a while before walking around town. By the time we got home, it was about 2:40 and we all had a little mid-afternoon crash. We had some leftovers for dinner before settling down to watch Gladiator.Read more

      Dun Laoghaire Vol. Rain!

      September 11, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Today was probably my laziest day to date. I’m not sure I can say the same for my parents, as it was Dad’s first day of classes and Mom set up all of our travel plans. But we all started the day the same, Mom went out to get some food and Dad and I hung around for a bit. After breakfast, Dad got ready for his first day of teaching and headed out. I continued with my schoolwork and Mom did some research on Paris, etc. By about 2 o’clock after lunch, we realized we hadn’t completed any exercise. So we spent approximately 45 minutes doing Peloton classes. Dad then came home and Mom and I made an awesome dinner. At 7:30 Mom and I headed out to see “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” (which was great!) at the local theater. We’re now ending the night in bed, while I’m writing this post.Read more

      Dun Laoghaire Vol… Tuesday?

      September 12, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ 🌙 13 °C

Since Dad left at the butt crack of dawn, Mom and I spent the morning on a walk and getting brunch. We got home by 11:30 and started working. We were both very productive and by the time Dad came home at 3, we had completed most of our tasks. I headed to the library for over an hour before my parents arrived. We planned on going swimming, but we decided it was too cold. So Dad headed home and Mom and I got ingredients for dinner. Once we got home, Mom took a shower before helping me out with cooking. We had a lovely dinner and are now finishing the day with another 2 episodes of Only Murders in the Building.Read more

      Dun Laoghaire… That’s it!

      September 13, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

We all woke up nice and early so that we could catch the 9:25 DART to Greystones. Once there, we walked around for a bit and stopped for coffee + food. We walked down to the end of the beach and back (we grossly underestimated how far it was). Noon brought hunger so we stopped at a pub in town for lunch before taking the train back home. At the house, we got a surprise. Since there was a planned power outage, we had to jump our electric gate. I quick changed into my basketball gear and we spent the rest of the afternoon at the library. Mom and I took the bus to the school where I play and before I knew it, practice was over and we were heading home. We stopped to get dinner at Tesco and enjoyed a chill evening.Read more

Cruise Day 4 - Dun Laoghaire, Ireland

      May 6 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

Today we started Brian's birthday off with cappuccinos delivered to our stateroom to be consumed in bed, then another lovely breakfast (where Brian found European Marmite does not taste the same as NZ's marmite) then we had a wee ride in the life boats to the port of Dun Laoghaire, Dublin (ship to big to dock at port). Spot of shopping and walk around, where Brian visited the national maritime museum of Ireland. We ended our day with a 5-course Italian meal at one of the specialty restaurants on board and a play in the casino.Read more

      Johnny Fox‘s Pub

      August 3 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Denkste!

Aber Not macht erfinderisch!
