    • Rest & Relax in Riomaggiore

      June 11, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Sitting on our private balcony overlooking the Riomaggiore with the Italian Vintage Summer 🌺 playlist! Just returned from a meandering wander through the very picturesque streets and tunnels of this beautiful town! And, in case you’re wondering 💭 Yes! The business owners seem friendly & relaxed 😌 It’s so refreshing to experience mutual respect ✊🏻 after V.

It’s just turned 6pm. Wine 🍷 time on the terrace. Sun ☀️ is high in the sky on a 30 degree day. Oh! I dread 😬 coming back to Winter 🥶 after being treated to a second Summer 🌺
If only I could travel indefinitely… I’m really pleased with my thought in packing this time: I have worn everything I have brought which often doesn’t happen. It’s still an extra stress, especially post Covid and flying cheap-ass airlines like RyanAir! You almost have an anxiety 😦 attack hoping your case doesn’t go universal the strict requirements… more than allowance equals big bucks 💰 extra! 🥹

Been for 3 swims 🏊‍♂️ today and I’m feeling relaxed but I must admit that a week looking a pretty painted houses 🏘 and navigating 🧭 steps and hills and rocks 🪨 is probably enough. Don’t get me wrong: I’ve adored every town except V… well, not true. It was spectacular too. Just the folks needed to attend Tourism 101. 😝😝😝😊

Richard & I went into the local deli and bought some goats 🐐 cheese 🧀 which is yum 😋 and focaccia, strawberries 🍓 (with taste!) and freshly picked olives 🫒 for pre dinner 🍽 platter. Having an actual apartment, as in London last week, certainly adds to the enjoyment of having space and room to move, along with your own space. This apartment is bigger than mine! It’s fabulous 😎😎😎

      Enjoy Riomaggiore by day… ☀️🍋🥐🍕🍸🍷🚄
I’ll take some nighttime representation when the sun goes down. At 9pm 😝😝😝

      Riomaggiore

      March 30 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Read more

      Cinque Terre

      July 22, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We had a bit of a sleep in today before hiking south of Riomaggiore to Punte Pineda, a lookout further down the coast. Nicky and Alex stayed at the Airbnb and did their own thing while we went on this adventure.

We took in some large breaths as we climbed vertically out of Riomaggiore and took in some incredible views once we were at the top! We then followed the main road for a bit before then descending down towards the lookout point where we had some more incredible views! It was starting to get pretty hot so we decided to turn around and make our way back to Riomaggiore, chatting and taking in the views as we did so. We thought the walk would be about an hour each way but with the elevation (and the heat) it took about 2 hours there and another hour back!

After that effort, we grabbed some arancini and fish in cones for lunch before meeting up with Alex and Nicky at the beach for chats, chilling and swims. The beach is very rocky and the waves were quite strong in that area so we mostly sat on the edge of the rocks and enjoyed the water splashing on us! It was getting pretty hot so we all opted for an afternoon gelato on our way back to the place - today's flavours consisted of: mixed berries; ginger and orange; ricotta and honey; and mango. Delicious!

We then chilled back at the place for a bit and enjoyed the views from the balcony before we bought some takeaway pizza for dinner and together walked up to a bar on the side of the cliff! After 20 minutes of straight stairs and being covered in sweat due to the heat, we arrived at the bar and had a stunning view over the ocean and of the sunset as we enjoyed some cocktails and snacks. We had gelato cocktails (with a lot of cream) which were so delicious! Just as we were about to leave, Alex and Nicky joined us and so we stayed for a little bit longer for another drink before descending down and back to our Airbnb.

      Cinque Terre

      May 18, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Read more

      Cinque Terre Riomaggiore

      February 28, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

.zurück um14.35Read more

      Riomaggiore - Cinque Terre

      June 26, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Cinque Terre. Man skall aldrig ångra något här i livet, brukade hon säga. Ibland blommar falukorven. Ibland får man måla dit dem själv.Read more

      Riomaggiore-Riotouristika

      June 21, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Was soll man nun sagen nach diesem Tag.

      A day in Riomaggerio

      October 15, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Ollie and I started our day with a leisurely walk through the sleepy town. Feels very safe and Ollie enjoys time wondering without being in the pram.

At the end of our walk we brought out fresh bread, eggs and an Americano for mummy.

Whilst preparing breakfast we did our daily calls starting with daddy who never answers! Mum next then Annie snd then the Ukrainians who are always eating and drinking when we face time.

After lounging, doing laundry, hanging out clothes outside the window on a pulley, we headed out to explore. When we opened door to go outside an elderly Neighbour asked me to wring out my clothes before hanging as now her dry clothes beneath our line. Lesson learnt.

After walking for two hours Ollie had pizza and a movie at home. I used the time to catch up on my neglected travel diary.

We have been travelling since 26 September and today was the first day to relax and think about easy days ahead. 1. Walk. 2.breakfast and catching up with family at home and general organisation. 3. Main activity for the day making sure I have some hidden treats for my brave walking companion 4. Couple hours lounge time. 5. Brief explore and find dinner to take home and cook you night I did fresh pasta with butter and garlic for Ollie. Me I had anchovies and most beautiful baby tomatoes. 6. Small walk for ice cream and people watching. It is not tourist season but still enough foreign accents floating around.
      7. Home wash feet hands and teeth and to bed. We only stay awake until 6.30 Italy time hence we are up early.

    • Day 15

      La Spezia

      July 25, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

    • Day 20

      Vernazza

      October 15, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

We purchased the Cinque Terre rail pass. 40 Eros and Ollie free. For the next three days we can travel between the four villages endlessly.

Vernazza is the last stop and the busiest but the best. Access to the ocean.

We had a four star lunch on the ocean edge.

This village was home to wealthy Italians. Hence the building are larger snd grander than her sister villages.

In 2011 Vetnazza was hit with a massive flood down the centre of the village.
