      La Spezia, Riomaggiore und Regen

      La Spezia war uns zu sehr Stadt am Meer, Marinehafen zwar interessant aber für den letzten Urlaubstag irgendwie nicht passend.
      Also weiter Richtung Norden und mal die Cinque Terre ins Visier genommen. 5 Dörfer direkt am Meer, da darf man nicht mit dem Auto rein. Man nimmt ein Schiff oder die Bahn, oder Fahrrad oder eben zu Fuß.
      Die Park4night App zeigt uns einen nachts kostenlosen Parkplatz direkt über dem Dorf Riomaggiore an,det auch für Busse oder Wohnmobile geeignet und erlaubt ist. Bis 22 Uhr müssen wir aber zahlen - 1EUR /h - das ist ok.
      Weil die Fahrräder fast leer sind werden wir wohl nach einem Mittagessen mal da runter wandern.

      Silencio Bruno! - Die 5 Fischerdörfchen

      Heute sind wir die 5 Dörfchen in Cinque Terre mit dem Zug abgefahren. Dafür haben wir einfach einen Reisetag von Interrail genutzt, den wir noch übrig hatten.
      Morgens starteten wir in Riomaggiore - Lillys Highlight für den gesamten Ort. Dadurch, dass keine Hauptsaison mehr ist, war es herrlich leer und wir hatten tolle Aussichten.
      Weiter ging es nach Mazarola, ebenfalls ein atemberaubender Ort! Unser dritter Stop war Corneligia, welches auf einem Berg liegt. Also viele Treppenstufen hoch, die Aussicht hat sich dafür gelohnt. In Vernazza (dem 4. Stop) brauchten wir eine Pause. Was eignet sich dafür besser als Espresso, Pasta & Pizza? Wir haben auch “Triofe al pesto” probiert, was wohl besonders bekannt hier sein soll (Kartoffelnudeln mit grünem Pesto). Auch Vernazza hatte einen umwerfenden Charme, hach! Was ebenfalls nicht fehlen darf, ist Eis - an unserem letzten Stop in Monterosso. Eigentlich war unser Plan gar nicht alle Dörfchen heute zu besuchen, aber es hat so Spaß gemacht, dass wir das einfach gemacht haben.
      Wir kommen aus dem Schwärmen gar nicht mehr raus, so schön war es! Die nächsten Tage bewandern wir die Routen noch, um alles aus einem anderen Blickwinkel zu betrachten.
      Max hatte immernoch nicht genug und ist sogar noch zwei Stunden zusätzlich wandern gegangen. So viel Energie hätte ich (Lilly) manchmal auch gerne!

      P.S. “silencio bruno” ist ein Zitat aus dem Disneyfilm Luca, der in Cinque Terre spielt. Wir waren also auch etwas auf Spurensuche nach “Drehorten”.      Read more

      Cinque Terre

      Cinque Terre besteht aus fünf malerischen, verträumten Dörfern an der ligurischen Riviera. Mit dem Zug kann man die Dörfer bequem erkunden. Von Dorf zu Dorf führen auch Wanderwege. Wir sind von Manarola nach Riomaggiore gelaufen. Dieser Weg führte uns steil hinauf zu traumhaften Ausblicken über das Cinque Terre und wieder ebenso steil hinab zu den malerisch bunten Häusern und Gassen. Dass das Gebiet leider kein Geheimtipp ist, merkt man schnell, da es an Besuchern nicht mangelt. So lassen wir uns verzaubern von den kleinen Dörfern, die auf so wenig Raum zwischen Meer und Bergen liegen, dass die Bahnsteige sogar im Tunnel verschwinden.Read more

      Pesto Impresto 🌿🧀 🍷

      Wow! Wow! Wow! ☀️🤩

      What an amazing experience this was!

      Nessum Dorma is a renowned restaurant that sits above a cliff top in Manarola. This is one of the few ways you are able to get in without a reservation. It was worth every single euro of the €60 we paid.

      Not only was the location absolutely amazing. Gobsmackingly beautiful& stunning but the staff and the presentation of the entire experience was out of this world! Perfect 😍

      The owner, Simone, won the piece of land the restaurant is on in a competition. Only three people entered and he won the right to build whatever he wanted overlooking the Manarola Bay. Surprisingly, there were only three people who actually entered the competition in total. Now that he has made an absolute success of it the locals are constantly trying to make it hard for him. It seems he is having similar experiences with some of the locals as Richard and I have had. Many of them begrudge others for being here. What a shame! He has done an amazing job. The pesto experience happens in the morning and then people are lining up down the path to come into the restaurant to eat. Without a reservation it is not going to happen.

      Anyway we were given all of the necessary ingredients of quality including local garlic, fresh basil, local cheese and pine nuts. We were told exactly how to perfect the most delicious pesto I have ever eaten. We were never rushed and constantly supported and always in good humour.

      Towards the middle of the experience we were each given a glass of local wine 🍷 which was slightly salty due to the region terrace agriculture and wine growing right beside the sae. Then came the most delicious 😋 platter: individually prepared and passed to every single participant. We were allowed to take as long as we like to enjoy and devour the food and the view. And also there was a competition to win a local bottle of wine… Everybody was a winner! 🥳👍🏻🍷

      I would put this up with one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

      Every single moment was perfectly orchestrated and we felt honoured to be part of the group. W🙃Right down to the moment that we were gently sprayed with mists of water that where perfectly constructed within the balcony frame construction. This is the true meaning of entrepreneurship. He deserves every success and we had the best time enjoying what Simone has created!

      The 10 gorgeous young Italian waiters added quite a significant benefit of this experience as well…🥰😝😝

      This was a brilliant way to finish our week in the Italian Riviera! 🍸👍🏻🥰

      Manarola for dinner

      After the boat trip we got changed. I wanted to see Manarolo.
      We caught the train and ended up at La Spezia station 🚉 in error. Caught train back to Riomaggiore. Off the train, walked down a long tunnel to the mariner.

      Riomaggiore is a steep skinny fishing town. A quick look around we found it too touristy and not enough restaurants so we caught a 4min train to the next town Manarolo.

      Manarolo is a pretty town. Walking through the back streets toward the bridge at the front.

      It was nightime with twinkling lights everywhere lending a magical atmosphere.

      I wanted to sit and eat at a restaurant looking out at the little bay below us. So we hopped in line. A short wait and were ushered to our seats. I enjoyed the pesto Gnocchi and barbecued prawns. Our waitress was attentive and fast.

      A group of men possibly on an Italian bucks night were making their way up thru the township singing. It was like a mini festival. They were all wearing calamari sunglasses! 😎

      On the road again!

      Managing to balance my inner and outer peace this morning with the morning photo of Poibt Vecchio bridge.
      Visited the Ufizzi gallery , the building itself is worth visiting let alone everything in it. Could have used a whole day there tho!
      Have moved to Cinque Terre- what I've seen so far is stunning. Hard to get here but worth it. Will have trouble leaving my accommodation to go hiking tomorrow!      Read more

      But of a cloudy, gloomy start this morning but Italy did not disjoint!Hiked from Corniglia to Vernazza.
      When you arrive in Corniglia you have a 200 step climb to the town from the train station - or a bus- today I took the bus!
      The town is actually lovely if you dont mind stairs everywhere with the ocean from unexpected view pints.      Read more

      Gestern Nachmittag haben wir beschlossen, einen Ausflug in La Spezia zu unternehmen.
      Ursprünglich wollten wir mit dem Bus P nach Porto Venere fahren.
      Morgen gehen wir zeitig frühstücken und dann in die Stadt. Wir warten auf dem Bus, können jedoch nicht mitfahren, da man hierzu nur ein Ticket außerhalb kaufen kann und wir ohne diesen Ticket keinen Einlass in den Bus bekommen. Wir gehen weiter zum Bahnhof und kaufen dort statt der Cinque Terre Card, welche fast 16 € kostet nur ein normales Ticket nach Rio Maggiore, es kostet Tour retour pro Person 5 € dann warten wir am Bahnhof auf unseren Zug nach sestri Levante 12.15 Abfahrt jede Stunde... .zurück um14.35Read more

      Cinque Terre

      Einen wunderschöner Tag haben wir heute erlebt. Für unsere Verhältnisse früh um 8:45 h sind wir von Levanto mit dem Zug nach Riomaggiore gefahren und nach einem Kaffee bei herrlichem Sonnenschein zum Via del Amore aufgebrochen, um zum nächsten Ort zu wandern. Aber der Weg ist gesperrt und muss renoviert werden. Nicht schlimm, so sind wir mit dem völlig überfüllten Zug nach Manarola gefahren und nach Corniglia gewandert, 3 Stunden,und ca. 400 Hm und fix und fertig. Nach einem guten Essen haben wir uns dann auf den Rückweg per Zug gemacht. Jetzt trinken wir etwas Wein und legen unsere Beine hoch.Read more
