    Absolutely Amazing!

    October 1 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

We have spent a very happy morning at The Colosseum. Can not explain the sheer magnitude of this place in time or history.
The whole Colosseum still has the aura of the mighty empire who built it.
Currently having lots of renovation done on the lower levels but still an absolutely fantastic place to visit.
Would come again and again even though it's a very gory history!!

    Roman Forum and Palatine Hill

    October 2 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Have spent a very happy morning mooching through the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
Completely in awe of the sheer size of the place and how much there is still left to discover.
You can feel the importance of the area as you wonder through.
Only criticism is lack of information for visitors, we are not archeologists therefore some of it just looks like piles of rock and brick.
Very worth a visit and would highly recommend.

    On strike!

    October 1 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Honestly could not walk another step so I am protesting right here with this bottle of wine... oh and him in doors! (The ruins are the Circo Massimo) chariot racing arena built in the 6th century BC and was the first and largest stadium built in Ancient Rome and is still used today. (Although the beast hunts have stopped!!) And in the 1980s they uncovered tiered seating and the starting gates but covered them up again to a depth of 9 m....Read more

    Catacombe S.Callisto

    October 1 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Very interesting trip down into the catacombe. Founded in the 3rd century and the resting place of Popes who were all moved and hidden in the 8th century to keep them safe.
Very informative guide who was very passionate about his faith and the persecution of Christians.
Well worth a visit and very quiet.
Be prepared for steps... no lifts here.

    October 12 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Arrived in a much warmer Rome on the flight from Amsterdam. The AirBnB apartment was lounge area, but fully self-contained and 2 huge bedrooms with their own ensuites. Literally 400m from the Colosseum, and walking distance to all the attractions.

Visited all the major attractions except Vatican City...we simply didn't have time.

We pre-booked a guided tour of the Colosseum including underground and Tier 3 which were great. Not many people are allowed to get to Tier 3. Really enjoyed seeing the underground tunnels, lions cages and a rebuilt lift that took the animals up to the arena floor. Tier 3 offered fantastic views of the whole colosseum and outside ruins.

    Alle Wege führen nach Rom.

    August 15 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

    Spännande dag i Italien

    April 18 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

    August 9 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

Fortsetzung folgt somit...

    The Spanish Steps

    September 30 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Very large staircase... not gonna lie, too tired to climb but looked fab from the bottom.
Very impressive fountain at the bottom and a lovely church at the top.
Fill those water bottles now whilst you have chance!!
