      Himeji - Sendai

      Mit dem Shinkansen geht es weiter in den Norden nach Sendai. 944 km mit dem Auto macht der Schnellzug in unter 6 Stunden. Ich muss nur in Tokio umsteigen und hier warten auch schon direkt Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen um den Zug sauber zu machen. Das System ist einfach nur faszinierend, es wird sich bei der Einfahrt vor dem Zug teilweise sogar verbeugt. In Sendai schaue ich mir die Überreste der Burg und den dazugehörigen Tempel an.       Matsushima: Hiking, festival, coffee

      Matsushima, jour 2.
      Je suis allé à pied vers les spots les plus éloignés de du centre-ville.

      Le chemin était assez fatiguant, tout en montée, mais une fois tout en haut, il y a un très beau panorama sur la baie.

      Au sommet, il y a un café assez classe et très populaire (Café Le Roman). Si populaire, que dès l'ouverture les gens faisaient la queue pour rentrer, alors que personne n'était présent quelques minutes avant 😅
      Eux, étaient quasiment tous venus en voiture.

      Le café était très bon, et j'ai pris une véritable crème brûlée pour l'accompagner. Ensuite, j'ai commencé la descente, pour m'arrêter dans un petit onsen. Oui, encore 😂

      Celui-ci était plutôt simple, mais j'étais bien content qu'il soit là car il a commencé à pleuvoir pile au moment où j'y suis entré !
      Je suis sorti du bain raffraichi et prêt pour la suite, mais il pleuvait toujours, et il était l'heure du déjeuner. J'ai attendu dans l'espace de repos en regardant le menu du petit restaurant intérieur, et j'ai trouvé un ramen ... à la baleine 🐳
      C'est plutôt rare d'en voir dans un menu au Japon, mais ça existe encore.

      Comme je suis plutôt contre la pêche à la baleine, je n'ai pas mangé ici, et je suis redescendu vers le centre ville, où un festival se préparait 😁

      Qui dit festival, dit stand de nourriture, et ce festival ne faisait pas exception 🤤
      J'ai ensuite simplement flâné dans la ville, en attendant le début du festival.

      Il s'agit du "Umi no bon" (うみのぼん), signifiant Océan et lanterne. Un festival durant lequel on peut observer des lanternes flotter doucement le long de la baie 😮

      Il était possible de monter sur un ferry pour voir les lanternes de près mais je suis resté sur terre. Désolé pour la piètre qualité de certaines photos, j'ai fait au mieux 🙇

      Le spectacle était plaisant à observer, mais sans doute le spectacle était plus limité que d'habitude à cause des mesures anti-pandémie.

      J'ai tout de même vu un très beau feu d'artifice, lancé juste au dessus de ma tête.

      Après le feu d'artifice, j'ai marché le long de la baie en l'éloignant de la foule, et je suis tombé sur un café/bar ouvert de nuit. Le café était calme, et j'ai passé un très bon moment à parler en japonais avec ma voisine de comptoir et le barista.

      Lorsque j'ai dit que je faisais un peu de Latte Art en France, le barista m'a proposé d'en faire un avec sa machine à espresso. Ma voisine de comptoir a filmé la séquence, j'espère que ça vous plaira. Moi j'ai adoré, même si je sentais une sacrée pression ☺️

      Matsushima, day 2.
      I walked to the farthest spots from the city center.

      The way was quite tiring, all uphill, but once on the top, there is a beautiful panorama of the bay.

      Here, there is a rather classy and quite popular café (Café Le Roman). So popular, that as soon as it opened, people were lining up to get in, even though no one was there a few minutes before 😅
      Almost all of them come by car.

      The coffee was very good, and I had a real "crème brûlée" to go with it (french dessert). Then I started the descent, and stopped at a small onsen. Yes, onsen again 😂

      This one had nothing fancy, but I am glad it was there because it started raining as soon as I entered !
      I came out of the bath refreshed and ready for what was next, but it was still raining, and it was time for lunch. I waited in the resting area and had a look at the menu of the little restaurant inside, and found a ramen... with whale inside 🐳
      It's pretty rare to see that on a menu in Japan, but it still exists.

      Since I'm against whale hunt, I didn't eat there, and headed back down to the center of town, where a festival was going on 😁

      Who says festival, says food stand, and this festival was no exception 🤤
      Then I strolled around town, waiting for the festival to start.

      This festival is called "Umi no bon" (うみのぼん), meaning Ocean and Lantern. A festival in which lanterns can be seen gently floating along the bay 😮

      It was possible to get on a ferry to see the lanterns up close but I stayed on land. Sorry for the poor quality of some of the pictures, I did the best I could 🙇

      The show was interesting to watch, but it was probably more limited than usual because of the anti-pandemic measures.

      Still, I saw some nice fireworks, launched right over my head.

      After the fireworks, I walked along the bay, away from the crowds, and came across a cafe/bar that was open at night. The place was rather quiet, and I had a great time talking in Japanese with my counter neighbor and the barista.

      When I mentioned that I was making Latte Art as a hobby in France, the barista offered me to use his espresso machine to make one. My neighbor filmed the sequence, I hope you'll like it. I loved it, even though I felt a lot of pressure being watched ☺️

      おはよう~

      松島にはもう一泊泊まった。
      この度、ちょっと遠い場所に行くつもりだ。

      丘を登ったら、きれいな景色を見た。そこはあまり何もいなかったから、とても静かだった。

      結構疲れて、朝ごはんまだ食べなかった。たがらカフェを探した。意外にとても美味しそうカフェがあって、「カフェル・ロマン」って言った。
      ロマンは僕の名前だから運命と思った！😁

      「クレムブリュレ」とコーヒーを注文した。僕のテーブルからみると、景色がとてもよかった。

      その後、変える途中で近くの温泉に止まった。理由は雨が降り始めた。昨日の温泉と比べて、なんか普通だったけど温かい風呂に入ってから疲れが消えた 😌

      今夜は「海の盆(うみのぼん)」って祭りがあったから、松島の周りを散歩した。で、やたいの食べ物を買って、「海の盆」の開始を待っていた。

      「海の盆」というのは海で提灯(ちょうちん)が浮く祭りだよ。思ったより、今年の祭りは小さいかど、楽しかった。そしてお祭りが終わったか思うと花火が打ち上がった。😮

      花火の写真はどう思う？

      花火の終了の後、夜の中でちょっと散歩しながら、いい空気でまだ開いているカフェを見つけた。

      夜だったけど私はコーヒー大好きだからコーヒー注文した 😂
      カウンターでバリスタさん他の客と話していた。
      会話の言葉を全部聞き取るのは難しかったけど、何とか英語を話してなく済んだ。😅
      そして、コーヒーについて話すあいだ、私はエスプレッソマシンでラテアートをするのは機会があった。
      僕は全然プロバリスタじゃないけどコーヒーを作るのが好きだ。そごく楽しかったよ ☺️

      Day 87

      Tanabata in Sendai

      Ça y est, on arrive à la fin de ma série de festivals dans le Tohoku.

      Pour finir en beauté, je vous propose le Tanabata de Sendai ! On fête Tanabata un peu partout au Japon le 7e jour du 7e mois, d'après le calendrier lunaire. Le 7 juillet donc.

      Mais si vous suivez bien, le post que vous lisez est daté au 8 août !
      Et non, je n'ai rien trafiqué, il s'agit bien de la date a laquelle les photos ont été prises.
      Simplement, à Sendai on fête Tanabata avec un mois de décalage, du 6 au 8 août.

      Et en plus, c'est l'un des plus grands festivals de Tanabata du Japon, on finit en beauté ! 😁

      Pour cet événement, de nombreuses échoppes participent à l'élaboration de grandes décoration faites de papier.

      Celles-ci sont ensuite accrochées le long des avenues commerçantes couvertes appelées Shōtengai (しょうてんがい).

      Et il y en a des centaines, c'est un véritable éventail de couleurs !

      To finish, I present you the Tanabata festival of Sendai ! Tanabata is celebrated everywhere in Japan on the 7th day of the 7th month, according to the lunar calendar. So July 7th.

      But ! In Sendai we celebrate Tanabata with a month delay, from August 6th to 8th.

      For this event, many shops participate to make huge ornaments made of paper.

      These are then hung along the covered shopping avenues called Shōtengai (しょうてんがい).

      And there are hundreds of them, it's a large spectrum of colors !

      仙台(せんだい)のたなばた祭りを見に行った。たいていたなばた祭りは７月７日に行うけど仙台のは８月６日から８月８日までだ。
      そして、たなばた祭りの中で仙台のは一番大きい祭だ！
      いいんじゃないですか？いいと思うよ。
      もし仙台のたなばたは７月におこなったら、僕は何もみられなかったから。
      だから嬉しいい。

      たなばたの飾りが見える場は３つの商店街だ。
      商店街を歩きながら何百並んでいる飾りを見たよ！

      Day 95

      Last days in Sendai, capsule hotel

      Désolé, j'ai encore fait une longue pause avant de finir cet article !

      Connaissez-vous les "capsules hotel" ?
      Ce type d'hôtel est présent un peu partout au Japon et sert surtout de logement de secours pour rester une nuit ou deux. Beaucoup de "salarymen" s'y arrêtent lorsqu'ils ont raté le dernier train pour rentrer chez eux 😂 Il y a aussi des étudiants et voyageurs comme moi. Assez pratique.

      J'ai fait l'essai pour la première fois dans un capsule hôtel appelé "Nine hours ", à l'aspect très futuriste, et pourtant très bon marché.

      Le système est plutôt rodé : on entre faire le check-in comme dans n'importe quel hôtel. On m'a remis un sac avec pyjama, serviette, brosse à dent et pantoufles. Ainsi qu'un numéro de capsule, qui est également le numéro de casier pour stocker des affaires. Il faut d'abord se diriger vers le casier pour y déposer sa valise et retirer les chaussures, le reste se fait en pantoufles.

      L'intérieur de la capsule est très bien pensé : lumière ajustable, prise électrique, quelques poches, Wi-Fi, et un store pour fermer la capsule. Dans mon cas, la capsule était très spacieuse, je pouvais m'asseoir et me retourner sans problème. Je n'avais pas du tout l'impression d'être enfermé 😌
      Tous les équipements sont situés en dehors de la salle où se trouvent les capsules pour ne pas déranger ceux qui dorment. Le casier était également très proche, donc aucun problème pour y récupérer quelques affaires.

      Le lendemain, il faut faire un check-out même si l'on reste une nuit de plus, et rendre le sac. On peut par contre laisser ses affaires dans le casier.
      À partir de 14h, un nouveau check-in est possible, et on récupère un nouveau sac.

      Honnêtement, j'ai passé 3 nuits dans ce capsule hôtel sans vraiment y voir d'inconvénient. Bien-sûr, comme dans tout dortoir il vaut mieux avoir des bouchons d'oreilles.

      Do you know about the "capsule hotels" ?
      You can find this type of hotel all over Japan and there are mostly used as emergency accommodation to stay a night or two. Many salarymen stop there when they missed the last train home 😂
      There are also students and travelers like me. Quite convenient.

      I tried it for the first time, in an hotel called "Nine hours", very futuristic looking, yet very cheap.

      The system is pretty well made: you go in to check-in like in any other hotel. You then are given a bag with pyjamas, towel, toothbrush and slippers inside it. As well as a capsule number, which is also used as the number of your locker. First you have to go to the locker to put your suitcase and remove your shoes: you can wonder in the hotel in slippers.

      The inside of the capsule is well thought : adjustable light, electrical outlet, some pockets, Wi-Fi, and a blind to close the capsule. In my case, the capsule was very spacious, I could sit and turn around without any problem. I didn't feel like I was locked in at all 😌
      All facilities are provided outside the room where the capsules are located so as not to disturb those sleeping.The locker was also very close by, so no problem to get some things from it.

      The next day, you have to check out even if you stay one more night, and return the bag. However, you can leave your things in the locker.
      From 2 PM you are able to check in again and get a new bag.

      Honestly, I spent 3 nights in this capsule hotel without seeing any real disadvantage. Of course, as in any dormitory it is better to have earplugs.

      思ったより僕のカプセルはかなり広くて快適だったよ。

      チェックインの時に、かばんが贈れた。そのかばんの中にはパジャマ、タオル、スリッパなどがある。１日のものだ。次の日、チェックアウトは必要から、２時から再びチェックインをして、新しいかばんが贈れる。

      Day 89

      Little break in Shiogama

      J'ai passé deux nuit à Shiogama, dans la même préfecture que Sendai, Miyagi.

      Cette fois, pas de grand festival à vous montrer. Juste un sanctuaire, et mon ressenti de ce court séjour.

      Shiogama est une ville portuaire, souvent associé à Matsushima, qui se trouve non loin et qui attire de nombreux touristes (ne vous inquiétez pas, on en parlera bientôt 😁)

      Dans Shiogama, il y a "shio" (しお) qui signifie sel en japonais, le nom complet signifiant "chaudron à sel".

      Ce nom n'est pas donné par hasard, en effet Shiogama produit du sel à partir d'eau de mer en juillet chaque année, lors d'un rituel shinto ayant lieu à Shiogama jinja.

      Et ce sanctuaire c'est à peu près le seul endroit que je suis allé visiter pendant mon séjour, car je voulais simplement marcher et me reposer 😌

      Le sanctuaire a plusieurs entrées mais je préfère celle que l'on appelle Omotesando (avenue principale) et qui se présente sous la forme d'un grand escalier menant au sanctuaire, une rangée de cerisiers à droite et à gauche

      Avant le repos, il fallait gravir toutes ces marches !
      Enfin, il n'y en a pas tant que ça, juste ce qu'il faut pour avoir ce sentiment d'accomplissement à la fin !

      Le sanctuaire en lui même était beau mais je pense qu'il est encore mieux au printemps, lorsque les cerisiers sont en fleurs.

      Dans la ville, je me suis promené aux alentours de mon hôtel, mais il faisait vraiment, vraiment chaud alors je me suis contenté d'une glace, et de quelques dorayaki faits maison 🤤

      Je ne sais pas si c'est la chaleur ou la ville en elle même, mais je n'ai pas vraiment accroché plus que ça aux paysages (hormis le sanctuaire).
      J'ai l'habitude de marcher en regardant un peu partout pour trouver des endroits intéressants, mais cette fois je n'ai pas déniché grand chose...

      Bah, j'aurais plus de chance la prochaine fois ! 😉

      I spent two nights in Shiogama, in the same prefecture as Sendai, Miyagi.

      This time, no big festival to show. Just a shrine, and my thoughts on this short stay.

      Shiogama is a harbor city, often associated with Matsushima, which is not far away and attracts many tourists (don't worry, we'll talk about it soon 😁)

      In Shiogama, there is "shio" (しお) which means salt in Japanese, the full name meaning "salt cauldron".

      This name is not given randomly, in fact Shiogama produces salt from sea water in July every year, during a Shinto ritual held at Shiogama jinja.

      And this shrine is about the only place I went to during my stay, because I just wanted to walk and then rest 😌

      Shiogama jinja has several entrances but I prefer the one called Omotesando (main avenue) which is in the form of a big staircase leading to the shrine, with rows of cherry trees, both on the left and right.

      To deserve some rest, I had to climb all these steps first !
      Well, there are not that many, just enough to have this feeling of accomplishment when you climb on the last step.

      The shrine itself was beautiful but I think it is even better in spring when the cherry trees are in bloom.

      In the city, I walked in the neighbourhood of my hotel, but it was really, really hot so I simply had an ice cream, and some homemade dorayaki before coming back home🤤

      I don't know if it's the heat or the city itself, but I didn't really enjoy the scenery more than that (aside from the shrine).
      I usually walk around looking for interesting places, but this time I didn't find much...

      Well, I'll have better luck next time 😉

      塩竈(しおがま)、知っているの？
      行く前に、僕は何も知らなかった😅

      毎年７月にその町では塩が作られているから「塩竈」という名前を付けた。鹽竈神社の習慣だ。

      鹽竈神社以外に、塩竈では僕は何もしなかった。ブラブラしただけだよ。怠け者なんだから、私！

      その日、暑かったことかどうか分からないけどやる気が出なかった。何でだろうなあ 🤔

      Day 90

      Sendai's Rairaikyo Gorge

      Retour à Sendai pour quelques jours.

      Je suis allé faire une petite randonnée le long des Gorges Rairaikyo, un spot accessible en une heure de bus.

      En arrivant sur place, j'ai été surpris par les panneaux d'avertissement : "attention aux frelons", puis "attention aux ours" ! 😱
      Drôle de combo, vous ne trouvez pas ?

      Au final, plus de peur que de mal, aucun signe de vie à l'horizon, à part une poignée de randonneurs.

      L'itinéraire était plutôt court, mais agréable car le terrain était facilement praticable. Même si le chemin était situé un peu à l'écart du cours d'eau, la vue était souvent dégagée. On peut souvent s'arrêter et regarder autour de soi, et guetter l'arrivée d'un ours qui se serait perdu 😂

      L'autre intérêt de ces gorges, c'est qu'un onsen particulièrement intéressant se situait un peu après la fin de l'itinéraire de randonnée. Je m'étais renseigné avant, et ce onsen valait la peine qu'on s'y arrête !

      D'ailleurs, je mentionne assez souvent onsens (sources chaudes) ou sentō (bains publics), mais j'ai rarement l'occasion de prendre des photos pour vous montrer. Par contre, ce que je peux faire c'est vous donner le nom de l'établissement.

      Le onsen qui nous intéresse aujourd'hui se nomme Hotel Zuiho.

      Ça paraît tout bête, mais ma petite technique pour savoir si un onsen/sentō vaut la peine ou non est la suivante: je cherche sur Google Maps (ou internet) et en général l'établissement a son propre site internet. Sur le site, on a de nombreuses informations (souvent en japonais 😅) mais surtout des PHOTOS !!

      Donc avec le nom, vous pourrez vous faire une meilleure idée, et éventuellement noter les établissements qui vous intéressent pour un futur voyage 😁

      Le onsen Zuiho était vraiment très, très agréable. Plusieurs bains en intérieur, et extérieur. J'y suis resté un bon moment pour être sûr de faire tous les bains !

      Voilà... c'est tout pour aujourd'hui.

      ...enfin, sauf si vous voulez jeter un oeil au site du onsen (ça vaut le coup d'œil, croyez moi😉)

      Back to Sendai for a few days.

      I went for a little hike along the Rairaikyo Gorge, a spot accessible in one hour by bus.

      When I got there, I was surprised by the warning signs: "beware of hornets", then "beware of bears"! 😱
      Strange combo, don't you think?

      In the end, more frightened than hurt, no sign of life on the horizon, except for a handful of hikers.

      The route was rather short, but pleasant as the path was easily walkable. Even though the route was a bit far from the stream, the view was often unobstructed. You can stop very often and have a look around, and check if there is no lost bear nearby 😂

      The other cool thing about this gorge is that a particularly interesting onsen is located a bit after the end of the hiking route. I looked it up before coming, this onsen is definitely worth a stop !

      By the way, I mention onsens (hot springs) or sentō (public baths) quite often, but I rarely have the opportunity to take pictures to show you how they look like. However, what I can do is give you the name of the establishment.

      The onsen we are interested in today is called Hotel Zuiho.

      It sounds obvious, but my little technique to know if an onsen/sentō is worth it or not is the following: I search on Google Maps (or internet) and usually the establishment has its own website. On the website, there is a lot of information (often in Japanese 😅) but also PICTURES !!!

      So based on the establishment's name, you will be able to see how it looks like, and possibly write it down for a future trip 😁

      Zuiho onsen was really, really enjoyable. Several baths inside, and outside. I stayed there for quite a while to make sure I try all the baths !

      こんにちは、また仙台！
      磊々峡(らいらいきょう)という場所にバスで行って、そこからハイキングをした。

      そんなに難しくなかったけど、入口にはクマやハチの注意があった。びっくりしたよ🐻🐝😱

      歩きながら日当たりや弱い風がした。気持ちよかったー

      で、ハイキングが終わったところ、「瑞鳳(ずいほ)ホテル」というホテルの温泉に入った。日帰りで。😌♨

      ちなみに、温泉の写真はあまり紹介することできないけど、温泉のウェブサイトには写真がある。

      Sendai en Matsushima

      We wilden vanochtend Sendai gaan verkennen, maar na een paar keer kloppen op de deur van de jongens bleef het verdacht stil. Met een paar keer aanbellen was er teken van leven en bleek dat ze de wekker na 1x hadden uitgezet en rustig door waren geslapen.

      Vandaag zijn we gestart met het verkennen van Sendai en de nabije omgeving. De start was op de 31e verdieping van het AER gebouw, waar je aan twee kanten de stad kon bekijken. Minder indrukwekkend dan Tokyo Tower, maar een leuke start van de dag en even weg uit de 33 graden.

      De interessante locaties in Sendai liggen allemaal iets verder uit elkaar en het openbaar vervoer is hier aanzienlijk minder handig dan in Tokio of Kyoto. Alles moet met de bus en gaat niet al te snel, dus zijn we erg blij met het feit dat we zelf een auto hebben.

      Na een ritje van een half uur konden we de Sendai Daikannon bewonderen, een boeddhistisch beeld van 100 meter hoog. Indrukwekkend om te zien van de buiten- en binnenkant. Binnen loop je eerst een rondje langs beelden van de Japanse zodiak, allemaal erg mooie houten beelden. Met de lift omhoog naar de 12e verdieping, om daarna met de trap in een rondje naar beneden te lopen. Op elke verdieping waren kleine altaren voor allemaal verschillende bodhisattva's.

      Met 33 graden is zelfs de trap naar beneden een inspanning, dus beneden gekomen zijn we buiten in de schaduw gaan zitten om even rustig bij te komen. Allemaal een flesje drinken uit een automaat, wellicht niet heel vreemd, maar frisdrankautomaten zijn in Japan echt op elke straathoek te vinden.

      Na het beeld zijn we weer in de auto gesprongen om door te rijden naar de kustplaats Matsushima ongeveer 30 minuten voorbij Sendai. Daar hebben rustig kunnen wandelen aan de kust en de natuur kunnen verkennen. Het kustlandschap in dit deel van Japan is echt enorm mooi en er zijn ook veel plaatsen waar ze een platform hebben gemaakt waar je van het mooiste uitzicht kunt genieten.

      We zijn via een lange rode brug een eilandje opgelopen. Erg rustig, behalve het oorverdovende geluid van de cicaden. Ook hier weer een kans om van mooie uitzichten te genieten en een stukje van de natuur te bewonderen.

      Tot nu toe valt het op dat alle locaties waar je veel toeristen verwacht juist erg rustig zijn. In plaatsen als Tokio en Kyoto is het onmogelijk om een foto zonder andere mensen erop te nemen, hier is dat meer regel dan uitzondering. Bij het beeld waren er misschien 4 andere mensen, aan de kust zijn we ook enkel kleine groepjes mensen tegengekomen.

      Tijdens het avondeten weer mogen genieten van een variatie aan hapjes. Voor Rogier als favoriet een op houtvuur geroosterde vis. Bij het bestellen was aangegeven dat 1 echt genoeg was voor 1 persoon en dat klopte ook wel. De prijzen voor het eten hier zijn echt aanzienlijk beter dan in Nederland. Voor een ruime avondmaaltijd met z'n vieren zijn we tussen de €60 en €70 kwijt.

      Bij de maaltijd ook nog genoten van sake. Niet in minuscule glaasjes, maar gewoon degelijke glazen die echt tot de rand zijn volgeschonken. Onhandig voor de eerste slok, wel zeer fijn dat je een echt vol glas krijgt. Wees gerust, de sake is beperkt gebleven tot Rogier, de kinderen hebben het bij cola, water en calpis houden.       Godaido of Zuiganji Temple

      Godaido ist eine kleiner Tempel auf einer kleinen Insel in Matsushima und wurde im Jahr 807 erbaut und beherbergt fünf Statuen. Sie werden nur alle 33 Jahre der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht - das nächste Mal ist für 2039 geplant.

      Das heutige Gebäude wurde 1604 von dem örtlichen Feudalherrn Date Masamune umgebaut. Das Äußere der Halle ist mit kleinen Schnitzereien der zwölf Tiere des Mondkalenders verziert. Trotz seiner exponierten Lage hat der Godaido bei dem Erdbeben und dem Tsunami vom März 2011 keine größeren Schäden erlitten.      Read more

      Letzter Tag in Sendai

      Akiu, onsen en waterval. Sendai karaoke

      Wat doe je in Japan als het 30+ graden is? Uiteraard naar een nog heter bad gaan! Vanochtend gestart met een onsen in Akiu. Bij hotel Zuiho is het mogelijk om een 'day trip' te boeken. Zo kun je als niet hotelgast toch gebruik maken van hun onsen.

      De onsen is volgens Japans gebruik netjes gescheiden voor mannen en vrouwen. Rogier met Sander en Christiaan aan de ene kant (blauwe vlaggetjes) en Yvonne aan de andere kant (rode vlaggetjes). Na ongeveer anderhalf uur van de warme baden binnen en in de open lucht te hebben genoten waren we klaar voor het volgende avontuur. Badtemperaturen van 40+ graden zijn uiteindelijk voor een beperkte tijd acceptabel.

      We zijn doorgereden naar de Akiu waterval, met de verwachting dat die gezien de warmte en weinig regen een kleine stroompje zou zijn. Niets was minder waar! Een mooie waterval en vanaf het uitzicht platform zagen we aan de voet van de waterval mensen lopen. Na een wandeling van 20 minuten konden wij ook onze voeten in het koele water steken en genieten van het uitzicht en de natuur.

      Na een tijdje ontspannen bij de waterval was het tijd om weer omhoog te lopen. Dit was met de hitte toch aanzienlijk uitdagender dat het omlaag wandelen. Een korte tussenstop bij een barretje zorgde rust. Koud water en mochi met rode bonen saus erover was een fijne onderbreking om weer op temperatuur te komen.

      Bij de auto aangekomen was het weer tijd om terug te keren naar het hotel, even te douchen en iets te eten te zoeken. Dit zijn we voor ramen gegaan, wat een erg lekker maaltijd was.

      Na de kinderen te hebben toegestopt in het hotel zijn we nog een paar glaasjes sake wezen drinken. Gezellig in een bar niet al te ver van het hotel. Op de terugweg kwamen we langs een 24 uurs karaoke gelegenheid... Je kunt natuurlijk niet naar Japan gaan en geen karaoke doen!

      Karaoke was een succesvolle afsluiting van de dag. Morgen rustig aan en een dagje strand!      Read more
