Next on the list of (free) attractions came a place with caves as our host Youmi described it. I could hardly believe that in a former vulcanic area would be caves but these ones were indeed very special!
They have been formed by the lava coming from Mt Fuji a few hundred years ago down the valley, wrapping around thee trees growing there.
And while the trees burned down, the lava got stuck in the shapes of the trees and once cooled down, left those "worm holes" behind which were just about wide enough to climb through.Read more
