    Kayaking the Nam Ou River

    April 20, 2017 in Laos ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

What better way to see the countryside then from the water!?! Oh yeah we have kayaked half a dozen times we tell the tour operator...does canoeing count? Lol We hit class 2 and 3. What white water rafting trip isn't an adventure without going for a dip once....or twice? The first was pretty crazy as we hit a rock going down a class 3 rapid which tipped us...Jardin went for a ride head first smacking a couple rocks and escaped with only minor scrapes and bruises..."All part of it Russ"!

We met this playful shysters while stopping for lunch and visiting a village along the river. We had a blast swimming with them and watching them do backflips into the water. They gave us a cold farewell as they hoped on our kayak as we pushed off and intentionally tipped us over!? 🙄 All in fun! Haha

Many of the villages along the river are in the process of being moved to higher ground as a new Chinese dam is being built and will be flooding their villages...☹️

PS...gotta love snap chat filters! Lol

    The Living Land Rice Tour

    April 19, 2017 in Laos ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

The two wanna be farmers from Saskatchewan took to the rice fields in Luang Prabang to test their skills. Andrea wanted to ride the water buffalo playing the Veggie Tails song of water buffalos 🙈 lol. Super interesting to learn about the old ways of harvesting rice which are still employed by 20% of farmers. Fact: there are two types of rice grown...dry and wet; you can only get 1 crop off dry where wet only takes about 4-6 months. Andrea really enjoyed thrashing the rice kernels while Jardin continued to be a Sherpa!Read more

    Fish spa

    April 15, 2017 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

We debated how we felt about fish attacking our feet but...when in Thailand?! I think the look on Andrea's face says it all!? It was the weirdest tickled for the first 10 minutes as they went in between your toes. Those little guys had their work cut out for them when they saw the size of my feet! 😳Needless to say we had silky smooth feet after!Read more

    Elephant Discovery Tour

    April 15, 2017 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Wow what an experience to be and play with the elephants. We started the day off by feeding and getting to know the elephants. We then bathed them in the river to get them all clean for us to ride. Riding them was a crazy experience...all I have to say is there is no regard for safety!? The baby weighed about 500lbs and was 1.5yrs old while the other girls weighed about 2800lbs. They will eat about 200kg of food a day and drink 200 liters of water. These guys get to sleep free in the jungle at night and the handlers sleep out there with them to ensure they are ok and don't get into trouble eating neighbors crops! We even got a bonus show... Elephant XXX! 😳 Jardin was feeling a bit inadequate around this guy! 😬Read more

    Random times in Chiang Mai

    April 14, 2017 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

Hey Joe which cable were we supposed to fix? I think the black one Frank?! 😂 How about some seaweed Lays??...when in Rome!? Jardin tried to find some shoes while at the mall...the lady says "Biggest size have 44"...Jardin "Perfect I'm size 14...wait that's only size 10 US".

Happy New Year! The Songkran Water Festival is the definitely the wildest party we've ever experienced! People everywhere spraying and shooting water. Trucks would drive around with people in the back with barrels full of ice cold water to spray people with. If you are dry you are Hitlist #1! There is no staying dry for 3 days. There is no better way to enjoy the 43 degree heat thou?!?

The festival has a spiritual meaning in that the water is supposed to cleanse your sins heading into the New Year.

    April 11, 2017 in Myanmar ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Welcome to the Lotus B&B (not sure if to North American B&B standards)...literally a bed and breakfast! Our last night in Myanmar went with a blast...a blast of heat and sweat that is 😓 as we woke up at 3:30am with our room toasty as an oven as the power was out since 1am and didn't come back on till after 7am.Read more
