    Day 568: South into Bulgaria

    September 5, 2018 in Bulgaria ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Another long day of driving today. Took our leave from the nice little hotel at the Danube Delta and headed south across the last couple of stretches of Romania. Crossed the border into Bulgaria with no issues, only a short wait. Not much different over here really, seems like a fairly similar level of development. Things are a little cheaper though.

Drove the last 90 minutes or so down to Varna, Bulgaria's third-largest city and a long-established holiday resort on the Black Sea coast. It was apparently quite well known as a holiday destination for eastern Europeans during the cold war era, and it definitely seemed like it albeit a little wealthier than expected.

Our apartment is really nice - plenty of space, good air conditioning, fast wifi, good equipment. Just a shame we weren't staying longer really! Shandos went down to the supermarket and we just stayed in for the evening - it's going to be a busy next few days!
