      Batu caves Pt. 2

      Znotraj jam je prijetno hladno in pocutiš se, kot da bi vstopil v junglo.
      Odprt strop, kamnite stene iz katerih raste zelenje in plezajo opice. Polno tudi stalagnitov in stalaktitov, ker nobena jama brez njih ne bi bila prava. Žal so bila mnoga svetišča v prenovi, vendar to ni vzelo čisto nič magije iz naše izkušnje.
      Ko smo splezali nazaj dol smo vstopili v barvito svetišče, kjer je bil živalski motiv močno prisoten v arhitekturi. Najbolj pogosti so bili sloni, biki in levi.
      Za prostovoljen prispevek smo vsi dobili 'good luck' zapestnico.
      Že hočemo izstopiti, pa vidimo, da se v kotu začnejo zbirati ljudje in nekaj lepo diši. Očitno se zmedene turiste vidi na kilometer daleč, ker k nam hitro pristopi eden izmed tam zaposlenih in nas povabi na zastonj kosilo v templju. Moji sopotniki so bili najprej malo nesigurni, vendar sem jih prepričala, da je to once in a lifetime izkušnja. Vzeli smo dva krožnika riža z zelenjavno omako in ga pojedli na svetih tleh. Ker tam nihče ne uporablja pribora, smo kot lokalci jedli z dobro razkuženimi rokami. 10/10 izkušnja.❤️      Read more

      Raus aus den Bergen. Nächstes Ziel war die wärmere und bei weiten größere Hauptstadt🇲🇾. Niedergelassen wurde sich in einem Kleinen Hostel nahe Chinatown😊. Wie so oft wurde der erste Tag mit dem Auskundschaften der näheren Umgebung zugebracht (spazieren gehen👏🏼). Am nächsten Tag ging es etwas organisierter vor die Tür🤓. Mit dem Zug ging es in die Batu Caves und auch das laufen kam wieder nicht zu kurz. Über Chinatown und little India ging es durch die halbe Stadt👌🏼. Auch die Masjid Jamek Moschee lag auf dem Weg🕌. 20 km Fußmarsch rechen sich (besonders in Flipflops), dementsprechend endete der Tag nicht all zu spät😄Read more

      Sehr große Höhlen die mit verschiedenster Figuren aus der Kultur Asiens ausgestellt sind. Zusätzlich gibt es noch eine Höhle mit Reptilien bzw. Schlangen, Spinnen, Schildkröten, Fischen usw.
      Direkt nebenan gibt es die große Treppe mit der riesigen goldenen Statue. Diese Treppe führt zu in Höhlen stehenden Tempeln. Sehenswert ist das schon. Von den Treppen aus hat man einen guten Blick auf Kuala Lumpur.      Read more

      Weil Kuala Lumpur so schön ist, wurde direkt erstmal ein Tag im Hostel drangehangen🤗. Natürlich aber auch, weil heute der Tag ist, an dem mich Marlena besuchen kommt🙊. Nach einer kurzen Verschnaufpause vom langen Flug, konnte ich den Travel-Guide spielen und mit Bus & Bahn einen kleinen Einblicke in die verschiedenen Stadtteile geben🤓. Mit bemalter Hand ging es dann, nicht weniger kaputt aber voller Vorfreude wieder in Richtung Strand und Palmen😍🏝.Read more

      The Big Buddha of Phuket

      Our adventure began in the morning as Craig and I hopped on our motorbikes and set off towards the Big Buddha on Phuket Island. The winding roads and lush greenery made for a scenic ride as we made our way up the mountain. We passed various off road adventure businesses, elephant sanctuaries, and restaurants.

      As we approached the top, the towering statue of the Big Buddha came into view. Standing at 45 meters tall and made of white marble, it was an awe-inspiring sight. We parked our bikes and made our way up the steps to the base of the statue. As usual, there many people taking endless selfies. We’re not talking about quick pictures but way to much production that takes to much time - makes me grumpy…:)

      From the top, we had a breathtaking view of Phuket and the surrounding islands. We took our time exploring the area and learning about the history and significance of the Big Buddha.

      Here is some interesting facts we learnt about the Big Buddha. The Big Buddha of Phuket is a 45-meter-tall white marble statue located on top of Nakkerd Hill near Chalong. It is visible from anywhere in the southern part of Phuket and is considered one of the island's most iconic landmarks. The official name of the statue is Phra Phutta Ming Mongkol Eknakiri, which means "the Cherished Auspicious Lord Buddha atop Nāga Hill".

      Construction of the statue began in 2004 and was funded primarily through donations. The statue was declared the "Buddhist Treasure of Phuket" by Somdet Phra Yanasangwon, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, in 2008.      Read more

      Etwas am Rand von Kuala Lumpur gelegen befindet sich ein riesiges Höhlensystem in dem sich mehrer Hindu Tempel befinden. Die farbenfrohen Bauten bilden einen interessanten Kontrast zum Kalkstein. Ich wohne einer merkwürdigen Zeremonie bei, bei der irgendein Brei über offenem Feuer gekocht wird. Die meiste Freude machen mir die kleinen frechen Äffchen. Eines nimmt mir ganz vorsichtig einen Keks aus der Hand. So niedlich :)Read more

      Batu Caves & Street Food

      Nun bin ich also im Hostel mitten in der Innenstadt von Kualar Lumpur. Es ist laut, es ist dreckig, es sind viele Backpacker hier und ich bin absolut zufrieden. 😍
      Es war eine gute Entscheidung bei meinem Host auszuziehen. Hier fühle ich mich deutlich wohler.

      Morgens bin ich zu den Batu Caves gefahren. Ein indischer Tempel mitten im Berg. Absolut beeindruckend. Die Treppen hochlaufen bei der Hitze war allerdings alles andere als angenehm. 😂

      Abends habe ich mich mit einem Lokal getroffen, den ich über Couchsurfing kennengelernt habe. Wir sind mit seinem Roller durch die Stadt gefahren und haben die schönsten Ecken von KL besichtigt. Masjid Jamek Mosque, Chinatown, River of Life,...
      Danach waren wir auf einem Street Food Market und ich "durfte" ganz viele verrückte Malaysische Spezialitäten probieren. Gepresster Fisch mit Kräutern, Limonade aus mir nicht bekannten Früchten. Hat Spaß gemacht. 😄      Read more

      Hindu religious shrines and temples built into caves up on a hillside near KL. The 1st picture is of the staircase up to the cave entrance. The gold statue is the Tamil God of War. The next 3 pictures look at the interior of the cave itself. The 4th picture looks at the main temple on the left and back to the 2nd stairway up to the inner shrine.       Christine, Craig, and I ventured out to explore The Batu Caves. Located on the edge of Kuala Lumpur, this temple complex is one of the most visited attractions in Malaysia. The colorful Batu Caves stairs, the big Lord Murugan statue that guards the entrance, and the caves at the top make for quite a sight.

      Some info about the caves: The Batu Caves are a set of Hindu temples built in both caves and the surrounds on the edge of Kuala Lumpur. The limestone formation is thought to be around 400 million years old The caves were first used by humans as shelter by the indigenous population. Then around 1860, Chinese settlers began taking the guano found here for fertilizing their gardens.

      The caves were impressive. There were too many people feeding pigeons - I don’t like pigeons but that was offset by the fun monkeys looking for food! It did end of raining before we left but we made it back to our hotel.      Read more

      Thaipusam at Batu Caves

      Aujourd'hui direction les Grottes de Batu, et surprise nous tombons le jour du Thaipusam, la plus grande fête hindoue du pays.

      Plus d'un million de fidèles en une journée sur le site. Ils viennent déposer leurs offrandes tout en haut des grottes pour rendre hommage au combat de Murugan, le fils de Shiva, contre les démons.

      Certains pour s'affranchir de leurs pêchés se plantent des tiges en métal dans les joues ou la langue ainsi que des crochets dans la peau. Ils transportent jusqu'à la grotte un grand édifice lesté sous une chaleur écransante : le spectacle est juste ahurissant !! 😲

      Nous on se contente de faire le chemin du pèlerinage au milieu de la foule et c'est déjà du sport !!! 😅👏      Read more
