    Bonaire

    January 21 in Bonaire ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Bonaire was great! Who would have thought.

I'm in a good mood for the first time on this cruise!

Picked up a taxi with two other cruisers. Marge stayed on board. Half the price of the cruise ship's tour.

Bonaire is very organised. The government has set the price for private operators and the tours are either the north or south part of the island. I did the south.

Our driver was great and he even took us off road to get a closer look at the flamingos and I love flamingos.

After the tour I checked out the shops which were great by carribean standards.

Then I found a cafe that had air conditioning and high speed internet with chocolate milkshakes made from homemade icecream. A good day!

Even got dressed up for dinner.

    Curacao

    January 20 in Curacao ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Docked in late and as the cruise tours didn't appeal we picked up a local tour. Bit of a mess as people were questioning the price and the itinerary which kept on changing.

The tour operators were all yelling at the same time so it was manic.

So not sure what we are seeing or if we are staying at a beach. We don't have any beach stuff so that won't be great if we are stuck at the beach.

The cruise tours are looking pretty good now!

Ok so the tour was really boring and we didn't see much. The island is fairly flat and boring.

Stopped at some caves that we weren't interested in. Seen one cave seen most of them. News to me that we were doing this. So 40 minutes sitting in a crappy cafe while we wait for the others to do the tour. Had some chocolate milk which made me feel sick.

Then we saw some flamingos from a distance.

Bed is looking like a good option as this ghastly tour drags on.

Next is the liqueur factory. Good grief!

Then the beach. Thankfully it was a drop off. Couldn't get a photo but it looked crowded going by how packed the car park was. Plus you had to pay. Even the tour guide was saying give it a miss!

Then we head back to port. More than three hours of my life I won't get back.

Should have gone to the north of the island to Boca Tabla National Park and Knip Beach which is meant to be the prettiest.

Hopefully Willemstad will improve this island for me so get off downtown.

Big mistake. As its sunday only tacky souvenior shops and high end jewellery shops are open. Beginning to wish I had stayed in bed.

This cruise is turning to shite very rapidly.

The Curacao tour is probably one of the worst in my entire travelling life!

Get back on board. One of the lifts broken.

Go to the buffet and one of the drink stations is broken.

    Eat ice cream.

    Sea day cruise two

    January 19 in Puerto Rico ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

So we cruised out of San Juan at about 10pm.
Lots of cheering and clapping from the passengers as we cruised out.
We stood on our balcony and did the same.
It was nice seeing the lights of San Juan and the fortress as we cruised out.

Spent most of the day in bed going back and forth getting food. Why am I so tired. Need a port day!Read more

    Broken down ship

    January 18 in Puerto Rico ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

We didn't make it out of Puerto Rico. They are now flying in experts from America to fix the problem.

So we get to stay in San Juan another day and a day is cut from Aruba as we were to spend two days there.

Wish we had broken down in Barbados or Antigua.

So after a sleep in I use the free wifi they gave consecutive cruisers to do the feedback survey to go through 1000 emails. With the little time I had left I managed to do some banking. Its been so difficult to get strong enough wifi to upload this blog and do any banking. Needless to say the survey didn't get done.

Next I decide to go a shore as I am going mad couped up on this ship with its crap TV. If they had movies I would have been quite happy but I am not paying over $20 to watch a movie.

Decide to go to the biggest shopping mall so that keeps me occupied for the rest of the day. Spying a Macdonalds I go in to get a chocolate milkshake which I am craving. But they don't do milkshakes!
I cannot begin to explain my devastation on hearing this.

Next I hit Walgreens for Pringles and Cadbury chocolate. Eat Cadbury's in one hit.

Had to be back on ship by 6pm then more announcements that they are still working on the issue.

I start to think about what I will do if the cruise is cancelled.

Then I walk aimlessly around the ship.

    Eat ice cream.

    Cruise changeover

    January 17 in Puerto Rico ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

Tedious day today after a tedious night of packing. The same cabin wasn't available for the next cruise. Had to be out of the room by 8am. Then at 9.30 immigration came on board to check those who were doing consecutive cruises.

Then had to hang around until the rooms were ready at about 2.30pm. The consecutive cruisers as they call us were invited to an 'exclusive' lunch which was total shite. Had to send back an inedible pasta and ended up having bread and butter for lunch. Menu was crap.

By this time weirdly we were exhausted so had a nap until the compulsory drill.

Then potatoes beans and rice for dinner followed by tv. Exciting.

New room a long way from the food. When you cruise the food is at the back and the entertainment at the front - well at least on Celebrity. So I prefer the back of the ship.

Also previously we were on level 11 as part of a few staterooms and now we are on level 9 with an obstructed view which wasn't disclosed by Celebrity when we booked. Its not a real obstruction by ship standards but its annoying. I guess it will provide shade.

Next was an announcement that they are fixing the ship's navigation system so we will be delayed in leaving San Juan by an hour. That was two hours ago.

My guess is if they can't fix it in two hours then they need more expertise.

We didn't bother to leave the ship as San Juan does not look enticing.
