Foxton Beach

Tim and I woke up and had a wander around the holiday park. Not as dodgy as it looked last night. It was actually a cute set up with permanent caravans for holiday makers, sitting next to an ecologically significant wetland and next to the beach. The playground and skatepark/pump track had won awards for being so amazing. The kids woke up and we packed the car and headed for a scoot before and a flying fox.
Foxton is home to a real life Dutch windmill. Se stopped for a quick photo and a look inside to find a Dutch shop filled with lollies, sausages and cheese. Tim and I grabbed the chilli cheese. Pies for brekkie from the 4 square and we started our drive to taupo. It was a rainy and misty ole day which made the drive along the desert road an adventure.
We arrived in Taupo around 2pm and checked into the Lake Front Lodge, about a 2 minute drive from main Taupō.
Hungry we made our way in and grabbed some food and headed to play pool.
After a few games we headed back to the hotel where the kids had a chill and tim and I went and had a drink for happy hour at the hotel restaurant.
The kids were happy to chill in the room and get room service to we were granted a date night back at the restaurant. Great food, vegan fish and chips made with banana blossom. Probably the best meal of the trip. A great way to finish the holiday.Read more
