Wild Water RaftingJanuary 15 in New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C
For this morning I had booked a Rafting Tour on the Buller River with Wild Water Rafting!
It was extremely cold over night ( 5 degrees) so I could sleep so good. At 8 o'clock in the morning it was still just 8 degrees.. The campground I was spending the night on, is in a valley and it took really long time for the sun to come up over the mountains and warm up all. 😳
When I was in my way to the meeting point it had still only 12 degrees. Cold morning, but you could already feel, that the sun was warm and its was getting a really nice and warm day anyhow. 😉
It was a small group today, only three more people that wanted to go rafting this morning, so that was nice. We jumped into a bus and drive up to the starting point.
There we got our equipment, got dressed up and then we were jumping in the boat on the river. The first part was really calm so while floating around we gr instructions and even got the chance to jump out of the boat for a little swim. The water was actually warmer the the air at that moment😉
20 degrees water temperature, 18 degrees air temperature.
After we were all back into the raft we started our journey down the river. The first two rapids was nice and easy for everyone to get comfortable. And they were just getting wilder and wilder. In between we were allowed to get out of the raft another time to swim a little bit before we reached the next rapids.
The last ones were really wild and everyone was just getting totally wet 😂
After that we got the chance to swim one rapid all together. We had to jump out together and hold on to each other. That was pretty cool, because you feel much more how different the water is moving on different parts of the river. In between it was going very slowly and then suddenly really fast.
After a few calmer minutes we were already reaching our destination where we had to carry up the raft a little hill and then got some hot chocolate and cookies 😊
It's was really warm now and the sand flys are horrible here 😳
But it was anyway a really nice trip and now I am ready for some really wild Rafting adventures 😉🤩Read more
