Hornictvi neni nikdy dost, zvlaste kdyz se clovek pohybuje v severni casti zapadniho pobrezi, kde je to cele vlastne jen o uhli.
Na konci 19. stoleti byl Brunner nejproduktivnejsim uhelnym dolem na Zelandu, mesto melo na 2000 obyvatel. Palily se tu taky nejkvalitnejsi zelandske cihly. A v roce 1896 se tu stalo historicky nejvetsi dulni nestesti, pri kterem jednoho krasneho dne zahynulo 65 horniku.

Die Brunner Mine war eine der größten und gefährlichsten Kohleminen in Neuseeland.
Bei einer riesigen Grubenexplosion starben 1896 65 Kumpel.
