Popoyo Part 2

Am unseren vorletzten Tag in der Monoloko Lodge mussten wir planen was wir als nächstes machen wollen. Auf dem Plan stand noch Ometepe und die Frage, wo wollen wir Silvester feiern? ist auch noch offen gewesen. Es hat uns mehrere Stunden gekostet einen Entschluss zu fassen. Das war mega anstrengenden und passte so gar nicht zum Lazytown Life.

Letztendlich haben wir uns gegen Ometepe entschieden, weil dort noch Hochwasser ist und wir so schnell Lazytown nicht verlassen wollen. Also haben wir unseren Aufenthalt in Popoyo verlängert, um 3 Nächte. Haben aber das Hotel gewechselt und sind im gleichen Hotel, wo zwei Reisebekanntschaften untergekommen sind.

Weihnachten waren wir zusammen Essen und heute, am unseren letzten Tag, sind wir noch mal surfen gewesen.

Also mein (Denise) Sport wird das nicht. Ich habe es beide Male geschafft das Board an den Kopf zu hauen. Niels ist da besser unterwegs und stand paar mal auf dem Brett.

Ab morgen steht uns die Weiterfahrt nach Costa Rica bevor, wo wir eine Nacht in San Jose bleiben und am nächsten Morgen direkt weiter nach Panama fahren. 😊Read more

Letzte Tage in Nicaragua

Die letzten zwei Tage verbringen wir an einem Surferstrand. Dort mieten wir ein Brett, das uns ziemlich schnell auf den Boden der Realität zurückholt. Tatsächlich können wir offenbar doch nicht so gut surfen wie wir auf LinkedIn preisen. Ein Zwölfjähriger Nicaraguaner gibt uns aber Tipps und mit seiner Hilfe erwischen wir tatsächlich ein zwei Wellen und dazu gratis eine Mittelohrentzündung. Von letzterem Angebot profitiert derweil nur Simon und das auch nur ein paar Tage verzögert.

Vom Surfstrand fahren wir dann direkt zur Grenze, die wir zur Einreise nach Costa Rica passieren müssen. Und weil Nicaragua Angst davor hat, dass wir ominöse Geheimnisse ins Ausland schmuggeln wird unser Bus bei der Ausreise sogleich erneut gescannt. Dabei stellt sich dann überraschenderweise heraus, dass sich durch den erneuten Scan nichts neues herausgestellt hat. Magnific Rock

El jueves al mediodia tome un chicken bus desde San Juan del Sur hacia Rivas y de allí la idea era tomar otro a Popoyo, pero como siempre, los taxistas te bombardean para que vayas en Taxi. Yo encontré a otros dos turistas que también iban a popoyo y terminamos compartiendo el taxi entre los 3: una israelita, un frances (que iba a ir a argentina para ver el mundial allá) y una argentina (o sea, yo). El taxi me costó 5 dolares. El bus seguro me hubiese salido 1, pero la verdad es que no tiene comparación.
Esa noche dormí en Magnific Rock (13.5 usd en cuarto de 4, pero estaba sola), un hotel/hostel en la cima de un cliff desde donde se ve el oceano en casi cualquier dirección. Al llegar dejé todo en el cuarto e hice una clase de Yoga con vista al mar. Y ahí me di cuenta, que por ahí no debería haber hecho la clase, estaba muy cansada y con dolor de espalda. Después de la clase me tiré en una hamaca a ver el atardecer (que estuvo HERMOSO, casi todo el cielo se tiñó de rosa) y después a dormir una siesta. No se si tuve fiebre, pero tuve todos los síntomas de una insolación: mi cuerpo estaba en llamas, me explotaba la cabeza y además estaba agotada, sin energías. Solo hice el esfuerzo de ir a cenar para no irme a dormir con la panza vacía y me la pasé tomando agua. Dormí desde las 9.30 hasta las 7.30 casi que sin parar y a la mañana me sentía un poco mejor.
El lugar en si era super lindo, pero le faltaba onda. Había muchos trabajando como yo, pero nadie amigable. Tipo 11 baje a la playa a ver a mi amiga Cami surfear y charlamos un rato. Seguía débil pero mejor que la noche anterior. Cami se estaba quedando a unos 20 min caminando de donde yo estaba, así que decidí irme a otro lugar que me habían recomendado: Casa La Aventura, mas cerca de los chicos.Read more

Back on the Road (aka Beach) Again :)

After spending the night at a lovely place in Managua we picked up our paperwork without any bother, and then headed south to near Masaya, where we'd been 3 months previously. After negotiating a fairly hairy road we found another fantastic place to stop, complete with swimming pool overlooking a crater lake and the glow of a volcano in the background.

When we'd filled up with petrol after leaving León the guy had brimmed it, resulting in petrol spilling all over the forecourt. We decided we'd best get this looked at before we headed into pricey Costa Rica, and I spent 2 hours under the van with several mechanics trying to get to fuel pump cap to sit tightly. It amazing how such a simple things can take hours, but we got it sorted although our fuel gauge is still stuck at full, but I wasn't going to ask them to take it off again!

We drove a couple of hours on down to the coast, arriving just as a stunning sunset was bathing a glorious long white sand bay, and pulled up just by the side of the beach for the night. No facilities here so nothing else for it but to wash the grease off with an evening dip, followed by a mucho tasty fish tacos at the little shack down the road.

It was amazing to wake up to the sound of waves (no air raid sirens here!) and have breakfast on the beach. I definitely feel super happy about about being back on the road again. We moved to a little official camp site and had a lazy day exploring the beach, including bathing in a lovely rock pool which occasionally got topped up by a big wave. In the evening we wandered over to the nice hotel on the outcrop between the bays and watched the big fight.

The next day we walked a couple of miles down to the beach to meet Josh, Chantel & Maya's friend MK. We haven't seen them since Mexico where we spent a couple of weeks with them and it was really nice to catch up over a lazy lunch, before we had to head off to beat high tide when the rising estuary would cut us off.

This section of the coast is unbelievable - probably the nicest since the Baja California which blew our minds at times. As much as we loved volunteering, it's so nice to be away from the humidity of León, back to a tranquilo lifestyle and chilling on the beach. Unfortunately our visa expires tomorrow so we can't hang around for as long as we would have liked.Read more

no pro pictures anymore till Hawaii since my camera and my laptop got stolen :(
Have still my passport,creditcard,phone &surfboard.. so the travel can go on and I have luckily not too much stuff left that could get stolen.Read more
