Short day, long writeJune 12, 2022 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C
As Oli caught up with me again yesterday, we decided to cycle to Bodø together. It is just a 30km ride from the campsite at Saltstraumen where we stayed. But the ferry to Lofoten was at 11am. So we left just a bit past 8am and got going. We saw a group of Elg on the way and made good progress as we saw the cloud cover brake up and gradually show blue more and more. After clearing the one small hill we got a coffee halfway and then arrived well in time for the ferry. I’ve been here before (a number of times), so I showed Oli the way and stayed in Bodø myself. I had booked a hotel, but could only check in at 3pm. To kill the time I went to the airport to check how to pack a bike for flight because yes, I am going home.
Even though I still have almost two months time to keep cycling around, the thought of ending the tour has crossed my mind the last week numerous times for a variety of reasons. I’ve had an absolute blast with amazing highlights and some incredibly difficult moments, both of wich I was expecting and longing for. I have tested myself in a number of ways and learned some useful things. Combine that with the amazing landscape, the numerous -often brief- encounters with interesting people and -as I said before- I feel pretty fulfilled. I am not chasing stats, wich could be a reason to continue: do more kilometers, ride further north, that kind of stuff.
I will leave some things unseen to keep me going back here.Read more
Brave decision. And i hope you will be able to share some of your insights with your loved ones
Hoe voelt het.
Het voelt heel vreemd op het moment, maar morgen ben ik thuis en weet ik waarom dit het beste besluit was.
