      Ponte de Lima

      April 17 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

Another glorious day. I lead our morning devotional and prayer time which I got to do on the patio overlooking the mountains. God is so good. Another perfect blue sky, fields of calla lily’s , trumpet lily’s, wisteria, honeysuckle— all in major bloom
as they just had a lot of rain before we came. We spend the first hour in silence. I spent the first two in silence praying over my prayer list. So many to pray for. Also had a praise music sing along and little Broadway walk/sing by myself. I love walking by myself in the sun through the beautiful scenery listening to my favorite broadway tunes and singing out loud. Pure joy. 12.5 miles today. Tomorrow will be our most difficult day. 15 miles and a lot uphill. Listening to the new Anne Lamott book which I’m savoring. Love this crew. Night night.

      Casa Da Fernanda

      April 8 in Portugal ⋅ 🌙 10 °C

Weather wise, the day was up and down. If I put on my poncho the sun would come out. If I put it away, the rain would pour. A japanese lady named Takei and myself, walked a long day of 29 km's, to make sure that we would stay at Casa Fernada tonight. One of the best albergues on the camino. Look it up on youtube. I have a great bed on an outdoor porch, overlooking the garden. Dinner for us 15 pilgrims was outstanding. Then they brought out the port and the guitar. Whst a night. I have to sign off before I pass out. Check out the pics and video!Read more

      Die Reise beginnt…!!!

      April 23, 2022 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

      Bom Camino…

      Tag 4

      May 13, 2022 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Read more

      Erste Schritte auf dem Weg…

      April 24, 2022 in Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

      Heute endlich wieder raus!!!

      Bom Camino!!!

      Beautiful Ponte de Lima

      April 9 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

At Casa Fernanda this morning, we had a huge breakfast table presented to us. All the coffee and eats got us of to a good, albeit late start. That was OK tho, since only had 15 km's to do in order to get to Ponte de Lima. The walk was all sunny today, with small villages along the way. This evening I walked around the town with Takei from Japan, and another girl from Puerto Rico. Takei has to leave shortly, because she is volunteering as a hospitalerio on the Frances. Any here are some pics.Read more

      Day three walking

      Yesterday in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

Honestly do not know what town we are in, but it is in Portugal. Today was a long one. We started walking at 9 and did not get to hotel till close to 5. 14 miles I think and three were uphill and treacherous. But we did it!!! My Apple Watch said I did 45 flights of stairs. I did not feel bad eating an ice cream bar before the last three miles. Staying at a farmhouse type of inn. I’m utterly exhausted. Went in the pool and hot tub post shower and could barely get out of bed for our meeting and dinner. Tomorrow is a new day. I’m enjoying my Spotify playlists and listening to the new Anne Lamott book. I cannot do all silence all day as my head is not a great neighborhood and I also can’t talk to people all day so the audio books, music and podcasts are great. I was happy to listen to Agne from Brisbane on Sobercast this morning. Missing my morning time with my anonymous friends. I’m a routine gal and while I’m loving being off social, email and text it’s been nice to check-in with some of my support from back home on what’s app. I could never do the entire Camino and stay at the Auberges. I’d lose my mind. God bless those people, but my self care, need for my routine, downtime, sleep hygiene, daily meetings, my gym, etc. are my keys to the healthy life I lead today of balance. Night night!Read more

      Casa Sagres Hostel

      June 26, 2023 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

Today was a beautiful 16 mile walk. However, whoever said the Portuguese Camino was mostly flat lied! 🤣 Today we walked many hills, past vineyards, farmlands and small towns. There were gifts for the Perigrinos on the side of the road like plums, water and even beer! Many more fountains too! We found there to be far fewer cafes or markets, though. My favorite stop was by an old Roman bridge. It was a beautiful water pool where we dipped our hot swollen feet for a while! I discovered I had the beginnings of a blister on my big toe and was able to bandage it up before it got bad. We are at Casa Sagres Hostel tonight. It’s 28 euros for a bed (top bunks only available), dinner and breakfast!Read more

      Portugal's fairy garden!

      April 5 in Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

      Day 6

Day 6 ... Friday April 5th was definitely one of the most magically beautiful days!!!! Today I walked with my new Australian Mate, Michelle and my Camiga Sisters. Michelle was a blessing in surprise and hearing her life story an inspiration! You see on the Camino all you do is walk and some days you get lucky and find people on journeys beside you! My Mate Michelle must write a book and I hope she does one day! We really just clicked like soul sisters!

Michelle walked in just behind us into Fernanda's Albugue and was part of the very special evening and Fernanda magical home, dinner, patio etc! The next morning, we took off about 8am and walked into Portugals Fairy Garden....misty dewy morning due to the overnight rains and as our day went on, the morning sun warmed us and we had a slight breeze all day! We walked in rural Portugal passing animals, farms and pastures all day! Water has never been more beautiful than what I've seen here! It's everywhere...along the road, surprise springs and waterfalls and rivers! For this desert rat, it's been a welcome surprise!

Enjoy the photos as I believe they speak for themself! Everyday is a walk through a fairy garden! God is Great! 😘

On our way - Ponte De Lima

      June 27, 2023 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

Here are a couple pics of the amazing bathroom in last nights Hostel! I slept good, after I stole the air conditioner remote from our French “friends”! 🤣. I woke up at one point sweating… they had turned off the air! So I turned it on to 28c which is 80 degrees and then took the remote to bed with me!! Ha ha ha! I can only imagine how hot it was that 80 degrees was cooler! Looking forward to a short walk day with temperatures on the rise! The walk so far has been really pleasant! Most of the walk has been shaded by old rock walls, grape vines or trees!Read more
