      Singapur Zoo

      April 18, 2017 in Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

      Nacht Safari

      April 18, 2017 in Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

      Nightzoo

      July 25, 2019 in Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Wir waren gestern zum Abschluss unseres Singapuraufenthaltes zur Nightsafari im Zoo von Singapur. Hauptsächlich weil wir Mia einen Freude machen sollten. Tja was soll ich sagen...

      Singapore zoo & Fireworks

      December 31, 2013 in Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Yovanna was feeling really sick now I took Ximena to Singapore zoo rather than Legoland. In all honestly we avoided the hustle and bustle of crossing the border to Malaysia just to get to Legoland where the rides are for young kids, Ximena likes thrill rides.

The return ticket train + bus was around $12 for myself and Ximena, still is a long trip, 6 train stations to Ang Mo Kio station and then 35 minutes on a jumpack full bus to the zoo.

[PHOTO_ID_L=at-singapore-zoo.jpg] The line to get tickets was longer than the great wall but moved quickly. We chose the 2 park admission including the "Zoo" and " River Safari"

What can I say about the Zoo? It was good but nothing out of the ordinary. I mean we have visted so many zoos including San Diego and Werribee that this one was just another zoo, still worth visting.

A great surprise was the River Safari. This is a themed zoo based on a number of great rivers including the Mississipi, Yangtze, Mekong, Nile and of course the mighty Amazon. The fauna was diverse and the exhibits were well presented.

A highlight could have been the giant panda exhibit but the lazy bear did not move at all.

The trip back to the hotel was painful just because we were so tired, still some energies left to go to the midnight fireworks at Marina Bay so after having a rest we went to Raffles city to get some dinner and then to Marina bay, we made it at Round 9:30pm. As expected there were already millions of locals on the best spots, I guess locals because I can't imagine a tourist spending all day there instead of going somewhere else.

Everybody was targeting a photo with the impressive Marina sandy bay towers however the countdown was on the facade of a building in the CBD. The fireworks lasted 8 minutes but seemed like eternity. Still they could be better, the place is amazing just not smartly used IMO.[PHOTO_ID_R=countdown-at-this-building.png]

Going back to the hotel was terrible, it took us one hour what normally takes 15 minutes, just because police installed barriers and didn't let people walk, in some instances we waited 15 minutes just to get across the road. Yovanna is feeling a bit better, good news.

Our stay in Singapore is nearly over, tomorrow afternoon we will be flying into another Asia's great cities Kuala Lumpur.

      singapore zoo

      July 22, 2006 in Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

after the excitement of the last few days we decided that we would catch up with some sleep and wake up at 7:15 and head off to singapore zoo to enjoy breakfast with the animals. We got to the zoo just as it was opening and headed through a few enclosures stoping to see the howler monkeys and the "free range orang ou tans" and booked our place for breakfast with the animals. We then headed off to watch the elephants being bathed, it was at this point we took out both the digital stills camera and the video camera and realised we had charged neither and both were extreemely low on batteries, fantastic! apart from the fact we were unable to get much video footage it was a really great day, we saw loads of different animals including polar bears, bats and white lions. All of which we managed to take photo's of despite the camera's repeated attempts to switch itself off. breakfast with the animals was cool, it entiled a buffet breakfast (which was a little doggy including chicken chipolata's), and a couple of live demonstrations followed by a quick photo session with a couple of orang ou tans
and a snake. Apart from the swealtering heat and enclosures that looked to small for the amount of animals it was one of the best zoo experiences either of us have had.

The absolute highlight of the day was feading the Manatees, they were the biggest cutest animals ever (no offence jasper). We donated $5 dolars each for a basket of fruit which we could put straight into the manatees mouth's, it would have been great to get the whole experience on film but i think due to battery life we managed around 30 seconds.

This evening saw the return of Saffron to the flat who has pretty much been asleep whilst we have been here and is looking more geogeous by the minute. Chris and Rebecca have both managed to get some sleep in the last couple of days and both seem entirely more relaxed with their perfect new arrival. This evening we had to go out and get a few supplies for Saffron in town which was fine apart from a seriously dodgy cab ride home, the driver seemed to speak no english and we wernt entirely convinced he knew where he was going, he had
what was eith OCD or a nervous twich which coupled with terible driving skills and no sign of a cab licence made for an interresting trip. Home in one piece we decided we would tuck into yesterdays left over lasagne and enjoy a nice cold beer, later on we may have to take our bottle of wine down and chill out in the hot tub, but we dont want to go straining ourselves.

So this is our last night in Singapore for this part of the trip and these blogs may become less frequent as internet access may not be as freeley available esspecially on and around ayres rock! where we will be for the next 4 days we will however post up a message as soon as we get to Cairnes all about our adventures at Ularu.

      3 Zoos Pt 2

      April 1, 2019 in Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Next I headed straight to the giraffes where I got to do the same thing. This Giraffe was a bit more interested in me than the elephant was, but not by much. The Giraffes were located next to the bank of the reservoir which would later be the body of water for our River Safari. I also so a baby chimpanzee, a stunning toucan looking bird, and a lemur that looked annoyed as hell we were preventing hi/her from a lazy nap. I also saw the toilet pictures below at the zoo. Some Asian countries squat to do a poo and it is frowned upon to stand on the toilet seat to this, so here a toilet specifically designed for this purpose. On the other extreme, Japan has a bidet even in public places. Funny to think that even though we are all people, how we poo is really important to us and how we do it is quite different depending which country you come from.Read more

      3 Zoos Pt 1

      April 1, 2019 in Singapore ⋅ 🌧 30 °C

Even though it was scheduled as my “travel to Singapore” day, it was Monday and M had to work. He also wasn’t as excited about going to the Zoo so I took the opportunity to go alone. As soon as I got to the zoo I hurried to the elephants. For $5 SGD you could feed an Asian Elephant. The one I got to feed carrots and bananas to was less interested in bonding with me or getting a pat but more interested in not having lag time between bananas. Still an awesome experience and even better when the $5 goes to animal conservation. Also pictured here is the “Eco-Link” which is basically a bridge for wildlife. This was just above the highway and I got to snap a quick picture while in the “Grab” on the way to the zoo.Read more

      Night Safari

      January 3, 2019 in Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

A unique experience to view the animals at night, while on a tram.

Discovered that photographing animals while both they and you are moving at night is very difficult.

While I really enjoyed the tour, there really wasn't enough time to enjoy everything, as dinner wasn't included ended up eating after the tram, which meant I didn't have time for the shows that were also on. Even fellow tourers who did the show ended up having to leave early to make it for our bus trip back. Maybe something that is better done independently even though that means a long wait for the tram. Public transport in Singapore is excellentRead more

      Night Safari

      November 22, 2018 in Singapore ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

So the night Safari is great in allowing people to see the nocturnal animals actually awake rather than seeing them sleeping in a normal zoo. It's also great for blurry pictures of animals and it's probably a mosquitos dream.

It was really good, the trails were quiet too, I was waking around on my own for a lot of it. It was cool seeing the animals awake and playing.

I've attached my blurry pictures... the blurry sloth bear really wanted to eat me.
