    Barcelona, here we go again.

    February 16 in Spain

Friday off so I could take an early flight and enjoy an additional afternoon in sunny, uh no rainy.. uh no... cloudy barcelona (forecast changed every 5 minutes).

We started off with some terrace then tapas. We found a pretty big boat in the port... the Dilbar, biggest yacht in the world.
We also discovered totally by chance a fantastic restaurant. The owner, Mirilla I presume, spoke perfect french, english and spanish (probably, wasnt able to judge myself...). We went for a drink and we felt so good there we booked a table for the next day.

On Saturday we tries our witts in Barcelocked, an escape room in the heart of Barcelona. The room was huge and filled with riddles and puzzles. Although we required 2 hints (but hey there were only 2 of us!) we escaped the room with 2 minutes left on the clock. Yay us!

The usual terrace on Sunday afternoon as well as some Navajos (?) concluded yet another amazing weekend in Barcelona!

    Barcelona day 2

    February 8, 2017 in Spain

OMG my feet are sore today! I walked in my boots to my Airbnb and met Francisco (a lawyer in Barca) checked in and didn't change my footwear. Five and a half hours of looking at the sites. I stopped at the city park to give my feet a break and enjoy the sun. I took off my boots a found I had blisters for the first time in my trip. Well those babies are going to charity and buying new shoes tomorrow. Walked the La Rambla, basically the main drag, down to the port, up through the gothic quarter, and over to the city park. So far a little bit disappointed with this city. The people are not so friendly, lots of beggars and lots of black men walking around with shopping carts. Going to try and make the beach tomorrow, Olympic village and Gaudi and Dali's house. The weather is supposed to turn to rain so I'll leave the museums for Friday or I'll take a bus tour. Saturday I'll be heading for France.Read more

    Barcelona Day 3

    February 9, 2017 in Spain

I definitely need new shoes and a pedicure! Tomorrow if it rains it will be a good day for that. I think I covered the whole city today on foot except for the beach and I measured it on the map for a total of 18 kms. It was a beautiful day but the only thing is is that the buildings are so tall you don't get to enjoy the warmth of the sun. I walked to the Sagrada Famillia, Casa Batillo, (both Gaudi concepts), the Plaza de Espana, Fira da Barcelona, Caucasian forum, stadium, museum of national history and then finally I found a little bar to rest my feet have some pinchos and a beer. Everything is so big here and they are even having a parade on Saturday and Sunday with giant dolls. I had to dodge a lot of dog crap today and watched several people just leave their dogs goodies behind. I have to say that Barcelona ranks number two as one of the dirtiest cities I have been to, never mind the constant stench of sewer and cigarettes. I found the Gaudi architecture much like caricature but impressive. I was going to visit the Sagrada Familia and the Casa Batillo but each entrance fee was 23.50 €, Kaching! Meeting with Steph tonight to teach her how to make latkes and to catch up. So glad she's not too far from here. I also woke up this morning and found out that Francisco has a beautiful rabbit and that he left a bottle of red wine -2012- for me at my door. What a nice guy!Read more

    Barcelona or Bust!

    April 17 in Spain

It took quite a while but in the last couple of days we have spent around 24 hours in the air. Brisbane to Melbourne (2 hrs), Melbourne to Singapore (8hrs), Singapore to Munich (12hrs), Munich to Barcelona (2hrs). Apart from the initial cancelled flight from Brisbane that necessitated our unscheduled flight to Melbourne, we also had a delayed flight out of Melbourne because a passenger had a medical issue and could not fly so their luggage had to be located and removed from the plane before we left making us an hour late from take off. No problems with the next flight but we only had just over an hour to meet our next connection in Munich however our flight was late so we missed that one but they booked us onto another flight that left a couple of hours later (and they gave us vouchers - €7 each for some breakfast)

No complaints with either of the long haul flights... in fact the Qantas A380 was comfortable and the food, for airline food, was surprisingly good. Watched 4 - 5 movies plus some tv shows but the one thing I have not mastered yet is sleeping so we arrived in Barcelona around midday feeling pretty zonked. We have been to Barcelona before so did not intend to do much sightseeing so wandered down La Rambles down to the waterfront and back to our hotel for a rest (4 hours later we woke up in time for dinner).

We join our cruise tomorrow so updating the blog will be whenever we have access to WiFi but I will see how it goes.

    Quimet & Quimet

    October 18, 2016 in Spain

    Cuarta Etapa (2/2): BARCELONA

    May 24, 2017 in Spain

Heute 176 km in 5,75 Stunden!
    BARCELONA!!
Uups.. richtiger Eingang, falsche Wohnung.

    Quinta Etapa (1/2): Barcelona

    May 26, 2017 in Spain
